10 years ago, I bought my first "new" car. 2001 civic ex 5 speed. Had 50kish miles on it. I was 19. 6 months out of high school.
I had to give it up a few weeks ago. The motor kept overheating and I couldn't risk losing this awesome job over it, so I did something about it. More on that later.
Right now, I want to discuss this awesome car, and some great memories. It was a silver coupe. I started modding it the same year, as I couldn't resist. I bought gearboxe's short ram intake. I bought my rota slips from some guy on here, I got ripped off by some other guy, got a catback headers, fogs, a carbon fiber hood and at one point I had almost assembled a turbo kit that I bought from some guy here too.
I had everything but the charge pipes and intercooler. I lost my job. So I sold the kit off for like 400 bucks. Turbo Renner welded an awesome manifold for me, and I had to sell that too. Sad times.
I met up with some guy on here to get my teins coil overs. Put them in myself. All the stuff I did to my car is here on the site somewhere.
I made lots of friends here to the first few years. but life happens and you get busy.
Well, that car has been with me through 4 girlfriends. More jobs than I can count and was around from nothing until I got my masters in college.
I had so much sex in, on top of, behind and beside that car. I drove it from Georgia to Connecticut and back. No problems! Drove out to multiple road trips everywhere. Loved getting 350-390 miles a tank.
At 170k miles I had to change the motor. I got a jdm one. A few years later my carbon fiber hood flew into my windshield as I was driving. Then I got hit a few years after that and it ruined my bumper. Replaced the radiator, refilled it and kept on driving. Now my ride is at 240k miles. I almost put 200k miles on that car in 10 years.
So, when I started I was a kid. 10 years later I bought a 2012 si coupe. I couldn't help myself. I graduated to a six speed and love it.
I remember this place back when it was 7th gen. Love your cars gentlemen. They are always there for you through everything. Especially in the clutch moments

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Not gonna lie.. Got me tearing up a bit reading your story. Got me reminiscing about all the times I've had with my 2002. As a 17 year old, I got her brand new (6 miles on the clock) back in 2002, and the chassis has only seen ~180k. She's seen the 4 corners of the US, and a bit of Canada. She's seen snow, rain, hail, desert heat, SE humidity, and everything in between. She's been boosted, 3 different intake, 4 different headlight configurations, 3 different suspension setups, 3 different ICE setups, and so much more.
There've been some damn good times back in the 7gc days. I miss how incredibly active this forum once was.
Post up a pic of your old em2, let us pay proper respects.

That's a great story. I've had my civic for 10 ish years. It now just sits in my driveway looking pretty.
That Xrice guy just wishes his hammer was as big as his ban hammer. Or half as useful
