Newb needs help

Hey guys I am a new member to the forum. I have had my civic for quite some time and I have always wanted to mod it. Unfortunately, yet fortunately, I am a broke college student so I don't have too much money. About my civic it's a '96 Civic DX with everything stock except the intake thats in it. Recently the tensor for my timing belt got loose and totally messed up my car for my inability to use the words i want to use I will say messed up. From the info I have gathered its the cylinder head that got messed up, meaning that I will have to change it. From the little knowledge I have as a newb I heard but am not sure that I can switch out the SOHC 1.6 cylinder head I have for a DOHC VTEC. I was wondering if anyone could help me with suggestions, is it worth it, how "easy" would it be? Will I have to to change both my headers and the intake manifold? Thanks for your help in advance guys. If anything I just hope to learn from reading these posts and eventually contribute. Thanks again guys, from the TB, FL good night.

Re: Newb needs help

You cant switch it for a dohc vtec head. What you must be thinking of is an SOHC vtec head, like that on the civic si's (d16y8)

heres a write up.
