painting rear drums
Newb question:warning
For those of u who painted your rear drums, what process did u go about to do it? did u sand off the rust, then primer, and then paint? I just got my wheels and this is bugging the crap outta me. I've already got the high temp paint...but should i should i sand and primer them first?

Its up to you if ya wanna sand them or not, I didn't sand mine but there was also no rust. If theres lots of visible rust, sand it & then paint it, the primer really doesn't make a difference, I've painted mine twice now (first time yellow, 2nd time black) & the first time I didn't primer it & I did the 2nd time & both finished jobs look the same

I was thinkin of doing mine soon too, rims make that damn rust stand too much, I was thinking rust-oleum paint, but not sure if the heat will effect it? What paint are you planning on using?
Hm... guys... i have and idea.. why don't we just use that rust paint that is used on BBQs? they are rust paint yet high temp too aren't they? by KRYLON
i didn't sand or primer them. i used high temp paint. i did it like a year ago and they still look great. that brake caliper paint is the same stuff as high temp paint just priced more
If you have rust on them use a metal brush, I used it and it
came right off. But I would advise against painting the rear
drums because I did mine and I didn't like the way it looked
so I took the paint off the rear drums and left the front calipers
painted. Just my opinion though. But it was a real pain in the a$$
to get the paint off.

if theres is rust just wire brush it off, i painted mine and it looks phat
you would have to paint it let it dry for 20 to 30 mins and put another 2 coats
and your straight
