New paint, need your input!
I'm planning on a paintjob very very soon. I've got an 02 SSM coupe. I want to paint the car a heavy metallic gunmetal color.
This was the first thing I thought:

This color is called Amethyst Gray Metallic. Its an exclusive color to the BMW 5 series. I like the darkness of the color because I plan to get a cf hood, front lip and trunk for the car and I want things to flow and not stand out too much. I also want the paint to shimmer the way cf will in the sun.
Here is a pic of my car now. The front lip will be the same style in cf:

So give me some feedback....

That's not a bad Idea. I like the Metallic scheme. I think you should look into some of the colors that Alsa offers, they have a great quality sheen to them.

if u can get it to look just like the bimmers, and not too "sparkly" then go for it. I see too many people that add too much metallic shimmer crap in their paint and its a overkill.

Re: New paint, need your input!
well i think it will look really good but it would look even better if u got it that color with like a dark silver pearl in it. My buddy just got metallic orange with yellow pearl and it looks amazing. I think that bmw color with silver pearl would look awesome

I was thinking of having pearl put into it. Whenever I make a final decision and get ready to put the car in the shop, I'm going to have them shoot something and clear it to show me how it will look when its finished.

how much u plan on spending for this paint job of yours...you do know that a high quality good paint job of a basic color is around 1300....anything under that your gona regret it... just my 2 cents..

Re: New paint, need your input!
I believe it depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it. I've always been a strong believer in doing your own bodywork....For example, I've got my car stripped down to the bare metal and then primed it....doing all of this work before hand will save me a hell of a lot of money in the long run. So a paint job that would normally cost me 3000 would only cost 1500. I'm sure Andy has a budget which he's working within, I'm also sure he knows it cost a considerable amount for a good quality.

The entire car is getting made over. No, I plan on spending good money for a good paint job, it will not be a cheap, shotty paint job, it will be done by a custom shop who has a good rep, just haven't found one yet.

No, no two tone. It will all be one solid color. I want originality and clean at the same time. The carbon fiber on that color will be enough contrast for me.

Re: New paint, need your input!
I've live in LA most of my life. But I'm going to have to find a shop up near the DC area, I'm moving up there in a month.
Just so happens I was out on my lunch break tonight and found the color I had in my head. I went through McDonald's and saw a gorgeous 06 750li that was the exact gunmetal color I've been thinking. Its called Sterling Gray Metallic. Its not too dark or too bright, just what I was looking for. Here is a pic:

Ok andy, obviously mine is the only opinon that matters so go with that silver bimmer. I think a little darker might be the ticket but you are the one who is going to be driving it.

Yeah, its pretty sexy. I got her last friday. The dealership gave me 5800 on a trade in for the old vic. Im going to try and keep the mod bug away from me on this one though, its a pretty amazing machine stock, but ofcourse theres always room for improvements i guess
Re: New paint, need your input!
Ummm.... I don't know if you will like it, but this is Sparkling Graphite on a 335i. It's one of BMW's new colors. This picture doesn't really do it much justice, but in person it looks very very nice. It is a little dark in this picture. I'll try to find some lighter ones.
