2002 civic hatchback need advise
dear all, i have a 2002 civic hatchback and live in jakarta. what is this car called in the us? in here they are called vi. i wanna do an engine swap to this car. most probably the k20a type r engine. all i wanna ask is, is it possible to use the tranny in my car. because the gear stick position is different. mine is on the dashboard (like those on ep3). please note that the only available engine in jakarta is the jdm dc5 engine. some people said that i cant use the dc5 tranny cos its gear stick is located on the floor. or is it possible to use the manual tranny from a d17 with the use of an adaptor? here is some link to my car, please advise whether i can do the swap or not...thanks all
by the way, pardon my english...

thanks...what i have now is a stock d17a2 engine with auto tranny.
im thinking of swapping either a b-series or k-series engine. from what i have consulted with some speedshop in indonesia, they can put a manual d17 tranny together with the b-series engine with an adaptor. i dont know if that could happen with a k-series engine. in here, nothing is illegal so i dont mind swapping a b-series

oh wow, I have never seen a 4 door EP3 hatch civic before. Could you get some more pics? You could maybe get a ep3 Si tranny to mate with the K-series engine. Pics of front and back plz!
thanks doc, that is not an ep...from what i saw in the engine bay, the chassis code is eu3...it is very hard to get jdm or even usdm parts in here...all they sell is jdm dc5 halfcut...as for the pics, that is all i have...will try to post up some new pic next week

you cant put a bseries in there.. go for the k20.. im ppretty sure the k20a3 will fit with the k20a2 engine check www.k20a.org
well its def not a si but has the body and interior style of the si for sure. if u can find a USDM civic si or even a euro civic type r and swap the engine and everything straight to that car(which is a k20a if u get the euro and a k20a3 for the USDM). sweet *** ride tho.
that is a pretty sweet *** ride, go with the K20 swap, im sure the k20a3 would fit fine with the 5 speed tranny. The question is, would he have to get the k series motor mount, because he right now has the d17.
centaur: r u sure it will fit? k20a3 with a d17 5-speed tranny? motor mount from hasport is available here...
btw, i have seen a fully prepared race car using a b-series engine in the U.S though...
thanks all for the comments. i still have a long way to go...

no the d17 tranny won't work with the k series motor. you can't get a hold of a k series tranny or something. going B series has to deal with to much fabricating, thats why its not popular, besides the k20a1 puts out more power than a b series.
when i said 5 speed tranny i meant the k20a3 tranny. soory for the confusion.
