You do that, and I'll rip the 6.0L turbo'd diesel out of my ambulance and stuff it in my car. Turbo would be cheaper than a swap, I think. You could build up the motor, but it would cost you way more than a swap and a turbo. Or you could buy something made to go fast, like an STI or Evo.

Internals and spray can get you 180-200 hp on the d17. Thats the cheapest way to be fast I think.

I understand a limited cash situation. But i've done a decent amount of research on making our cars faster. Everything i've read tells me that bolting on headers, intake and exhaust gets you maybe 5hp, if that. You're going to have a spend a decent amount of cash to make a civic fast. Even if you do nitrous as suggested, you'll have to buy the system, in addition to doing a lot of work on the internal parts of the engine. You'll prolly also need to do something with your transmission to handle the extra power. Basically, i'm in the same situation, no money for a swap or turbo. All i've done so far is an AEM intake and some iridium plugs. Neither of which made much of a difference, tho the intake sounds ok. I'm not trying to be an @$$ here, but if you can't afford a turbo or swap or complete rebuild of the motor, you might as well skip anything beyond an intake and an exhaust, cause it's not going to help much just bolting things on. Alternately, depending on what you could get for your car, you could trade up to a car that is a lot faster stock. I guess that would depend on how much you still owe on the car, tho.

try lighter moving components, aluminium balance, (power pully) lighter fly wheel, (if it's MT) get rid of p/s and a/c. remove seats, carpet spare tire.
there is about 200 lbs. remember, every 8 lbs is 1 horsepower gained.

Im coo with the nos and selling my car. I already put 2 much money into it just to start over and plus its paid for so yea.....but from the way it look my best bet is to swap the engine get a turbo and all that good stuff. So how can I go about getting up to about 250-300 hp

humm.....no. i've seen a 25th camaro w/ power chip sell for $4000. that's almost 500 horses. i've seen a 6th gen civic sell for $12,000. almost 160 horses there, well at the crank! same year, less miles on the chevy. your economics are going you screw you some day......

yeah an h22 is almost possible with alot of money and thats if your car is an 04 if its not its not legal anywhere in the usa. there are no mounts for it to fit our car and wiring will be a major pain no one makes anything for that so its all gotta be custom.

h22 possible, yes. legal, no. according to the governess of of the law, (epa) it is illegal to install an older motor into a newer car because the emmission laws were different when this engine was designed. you could swap for race purposes only. if you are cought with an older motor in a newer car, expect to pay fines up to $10,000 and 6 years in federal prision. "what are you in for?" "oh, i put the wrong motor in my car." it's why you can't put a REAL hemi into a new dodge. you can't even put a 2001 motor into a 2002 legally.

if you want more power and more speed... put yer civic in a trailor and hook it up to a pickup and head for the highway....
