The only time i would ever consider a selling to a dealer is if i had a say 96 GMC Truck with 100,000+ miles. Obviously it would be hard to sell to a private party.
sell it your self and get some money back. my 02 coupe 45,000 miles could get me about 12,000 right now

Check kbb.com like vicdawg mentioned. Just input your vehicle info. It'll give you the bluebook value on your car. That's what the majority of people use when looking for the value of their car.

dealer will buy yours cheap and sell for 3-4k above what they got. I once saw a modded civic going for 20k! they dont pay you extra for aftermarket parts, but they will sure include them on the invoice.

Part 4 of this thread talks about trading, but you might want to read it all:

Ha ha ha.. What a joke.. Dude, I wouldn't even buy a car from that dealership is that is all they offered you for trade. Beings that they wanted to rip you off on your trade in, you can only imagine what they are going to do to you once you buy one of their cars.. Oh yea.. don't sell for any less than 15K with that mileage. Remember, we have Hondas, not Fords.

how do you only have 1800 miles damn, but if you read the article on edmunds , about the undercover writer who got a job at dealerships it brings a lot of insight

Yeah..My mom is in the car business...She says the dealerships make more money off used cars than selling new. The dealer usually only makes between 300-500 off a new car. With used they make 1k-3k...It's assinine!!
I say hang onto it for a while and build up some equidy then trade

Your mom's dealership sucks then, and the dealer principal should fire everyone there. No one with a floor plan would ever stay in business with those #'s. It's more like 3K average on used cars. I've done deals over 10k dealer profit on used. Holdback alone on a new car is $300-500, so you are saying they are selling everything at dealer cost? BS, your mom must be the secretary or a salesperson.
