Rep Power: 310 Well my 2k1 civic AUTO tranny finnaly took a sheit
Hi! I haven't posted in awhile, but ive been having no time as of late. I had some major family problems
Anyway, Like most 7thgen Autos, My 1->2 and 2->3 shifts have been slipping for awhile now. The car has 68,000 Miles. Just 3 k out of warrenty
A few mornings ago, I started my car to drive my siblings to school. I heard a very strange whiney noise from the engine bay. I knew something was up. I contined to drive my siblings to school and then off to work. The car shifted into 3rd gear very strangly the entire way!
After work was over i went to my car and started her up. The same whiney noise happens. But this time, None of the gears move the car. The engine just revs.
The AUTO tranny has finnally died.
I knew this was going to happen sooner or later so I had the TCI master overhaul kit sitting under my bed for about 3 months now. LOL.
Anyway im gonna have to wait for my uncle to come back from Vietnam to rebuild my tranny. Then the Turbo will go in
Untill then I have to drive around an ML55 AMG. Man paying 70 bucks at the pump is really killing me

Rep Power: 310 its probably been slipping for about 2 years now. it sucks! within 68,000 miles. ive changed my ATF with Honda ATF atleast 3 times. If not 4.
Still nothing could have stopped it (
I am getting kinda anxious waiting for my uncle. He wont be back till the end of july.
How much does Aamco transmission charge for something like this? 2k?

Rep Power: 788 that sucks yea im at 50k i've changed my fluid every 10k and even got a cooler! i only have 1 year of warranty so looks like ill be paying for a new one in the future. i would not pay more than 2k. and dont get a refurbished one, it will just break again. try and find a good condition 04-05 tranny in case they made some revision to that model.

Rep Power: 0 What are you guys doing that kills the auto tranny so soon? I am over 60k in my '01 sedan and haven't seen any of the issues you describe. I take care of the car, and it is isn't boosted. On the other hand, if you have to replace it you can get the torque converter modified so it is more responsive and gets better MPG

Rep Power: 788 it kills itself. the tranny is made out of junk parts, no amount of careful driving and maintenance will save it from this problem

Rep Power: 0 I am hardly nice on the tranny, I just didn't expect them to deteriorate so soon. 80k maybe, 100k yes but not at 50-60k. I had a '97 EX auto with over 80k miles on it and didn't recall any issues with it either.

Rep Power: 788 when you are pressing down the gas, and just as the tranny gets ready to switch to the next gear, it misses and the rpm just revs up about 500-1000 rpm before it finally grabs. it would be like putting the car in neutral for a second and keeping your foot on the gas, then switching to drive.
