The TC is more powerful and has a bigger aftermarket. But a few things I don't like. 1st the dash is an ugly setup, and 2nd they have big issues with thier clutchs. Most die out around 40k miles and warranty dosen't cover it. I only know this because my buddy has an 05, and he is on the Scion forums all the time. And his clutch also went out at around a little over 40k
aside from all of this... the tc is becoming more of a chick car IMO, and scion is looking to replace it with some other model to get more guys to buy their car so they can mod it with their TRD parts making more $$ for toyota in the process... but yea the tc does have more power and aftermarket, but u can always swap ur motor...in addition my friend works for those phone surveyor companies and they do surveys for scion and he said a lot of people are complaining about the rear view and the panorama (whatever it's called) sunroof because it breaks fast

^^^ nah, thats not cost effective. Most people dont need turbo Civics. A Si/Si sedan is more than enough. The tC is a good choice... but it depends on what youre looking for. tC interior is either you like it or you dont. They do try to make it look upscale though. tC's are reliable. But cost of owning 1 will cost more than owning a Civic.
my bro-in-law just got a tc. pretty clean in its own way. faster than a civic for sure. and yes they are reliable, but dont count on my words, because i dont really know anything about it, but toyota is also known for reliability. all i know is that we went to the track with it and i smoked it with my gsr. didnt want to bring the civic, because i knew i would lose.
all i heard that the autos on the tc's are terrible compared to the manual-power wise. other than that i heard the usual wat everyone else is saying:cheap interior and so on. ive sat in one it does feel okay but the panels are sooo ugly and cheap. if u are gonna get a tc atleast get the manual thats wat im gonna say about this.
damn... haha still so hard... thanks everyone for there input...
my main thing is i dont really care about speed or anything because i dont race or anything... im more of a show type of person.. the looks... so just based on the looks, the interior space, etc... Opinions... =] thanks again everyone so far whos had input

tC is better built! Toyota's quality is unbeatable!!! Its a fact!
also, tC's cockpit is better imo. I'd get a tC if they had scion in Canada.

and someone saying the TC is a girls car, i guess i can agree with that because i know four people that have TC's.. well technically 3, but the 4th one is my friends younger sisters car, and from the 3 i personally know, 2 are girls and 1 is a guy.. and the majority of the time i see a TC where i live, it's a girl driving it too =| so up to you.
i personally dont like toyota too much, i dont like the way their cars feel when you drive it, i've driven my guy friend's tc (his is a manual), and i'd have to say honda manuals feel much better. i dont like toyota brakes either, they feel really mushy unlike honda cars' brakes that are more solid.
^^its not all about the clutch bro...
the civic's suspension goes out more than any other car.... it also has the most noisiest ride in its class because of poor inslulation AND there's **** rattling all the time. There's no doubt the the civic is the better looking one, but overall, the tC is very impressive, specially for the price.

^ i only pointed that out becuase you were talking about how great Toyota's "quality" was, if it was really that great would they have problems like that? the TC's moon roof thing has known have shattered on many owners when it's up and opened. and i dont know too much of anything else about the car and i personally dont care to know really.

I am on the scion forums daily, and there has never been anything about the clutch going out early on these cars. currently, on scionlife.com, theres only a few people that have gone that many miles, the highest currently known is at about 65k miles and says his car is perfect.
pretty much, the only major complaints are the interior plastic scratches easily, and the sunroof rattles over big *** bumps. in 05 they had a recall on the wind deflector because it wasn't strong enough to deflect wind at highway speeds, and therefore broke.
I have one, have had it for 2 months and 5k miles, and my only complaint is the interior plastic scratching easily, and the fact that it doesn't seem as nimble as my civic did. the brakes are a lot better than my civic's were, the pedal actually does something when you press it, and 4 wheel discs with ABS and EBD is better than a front disc rear drum setup IMO.
the only thing that really sucks about this car is the fact that 75% of the people on the forums are hardcore ricers.

if you get the TRD springs, get them after you buy the car, and install yourself, since the dealer tries to charge you like 199 for the springs and 400 to install them. you can get them online at trdsparks.com for 154, and do it yourself. its more for just lowering it, the spring rates are almost identical to the stock springs, so its not likely for your shocks to blow with them on. and it is the cheapest out of all the aftermarket options.
also, those 18 inch wheels are a joke. many dealers charge 1400-1800 for them, when you can get them a lot cheaper online, or even get something different online. but if you do get those from the dealer, you ARE entitled to keep your stock wheels/tires, and if your dealer says no, go to another one, or argue with management about it.
pretty much all the stuff you can add to your tc at the dealer is available online for a lot cheaper, from mcgeorgeparts.com and trdsparks.com. the only downside is you can't finance it into the purchase price if you want to.

you might want to look into the RS2 tc that is coming out right now. It's the second release series, limited edition (they only do 1 per year), and it comes in one color (blitz blue mica), with alcantara seats (like the STi), the ipod stereo, and a pioneer sub built into the trunk floor, as well as a different front grille, and the same wheels, but in bright silver.
here's some pics:

the grille would look better painted black or gunmetal IMO, but there it is, the RS2 tC.

One thing I would have to say when I rode in one the back seats are really uncomfortable. they are just flat without much cushion, but they do recline. Also the inside fabric felt really cheap, but that might vary between models.
no the interior is the same in all.. why do u think they drove the price to like 16G for new... its cuz they had to save money on every part... they didnt develop a new engine for it(using 2.4l camry engine) and put cheaper plastic inside.... thats why they are sold for less. but the reason the back seat is not comfortable is cuz its knew!!! but its a really good car with good power for the price
a super charger that makes 50 ponnies... thats not that good but not bad either... how many psi??? do u know?
