Rep Power: 350 nice graph. i had my 2k1 ex mt dynoed at a dyno day recently at this crazy-*** tuner shop here in jax. i threw down 113 whp with a cai, magnaflow exhaust, ix plugs, and ground wiring in 80 degree weather. no, i dont have the graph cause the tuners and owner of the shop made fun of me all in good fun though
then this guy rolled up on the dyno (not from that day) - fVucker lol

Rep Power: 338 ^ did you have your 17's on at the time?
17's are heavy guys!
also ... horsepower figures can be affected a bit by elevation and temperature. Rule of thumb is for every +1000 ft. elevation, you lose 3% power

Rep Power: 244 I dyno'd stock with no tune a year ago (2001 EX MT) both runs 108.7 SAE HP. I did take the power steering belt off for the runs... Was always hoping to get an "after mod" dyno but the shop went under.

yeah i had my 17s on, but they weight just about the same as the stock ex setup. it was about 82 or 83 that day and its usually pretty humid around here, but at sea level.

Rep Power: 338 ^ sorta true ... lighter will spin faster, but a larger diameter will still be harder to spin.
A good analogy would be an ice skater ... they spin slowly until they pull all of their arms and legs together then they spin FAST ... they are the same weight, but they have lesser rotational inertia.
You've got to have a 17" rim that is significantly lighter for it to be able to spin easier than a 15" rim.
Maj: if you like the look of 17's, I think you should go with them. But if you're concerned about going fast, then 17's are not for you.
If you switch to 17's (especially heavy ones), you'll notice longer braking distances, slower acceleration and a drop in gas milage.

Rep Power: 338 low profile helps a little, but not much. The weight for the tire would be closer in, but the weight of the rim is still far out.
for rims, hardly any of the weight are on the spokes ... most of it is far out where the tire is. So, all of the weight of the 17" rim is gonna be farther out than a 15" rim. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but if you've seen a bare rim, you know what I mean.
So, a 15 pound 15" rim is going to be easier to spin than a 15 pound 17" rim... and probably still easier to spin than a 13 pound 17" rim ... just because the weight is farther out on the 17".
When I was going to get new rims again, I had a choice of getting 16" SSR Comps (again) or 17" SSR Comps. The ONLY thing that made me choose the 17's was a better selection of tires ...
but now I heavily regret my decision in getting the 17's. They're still in perfect condition, but I would just like 16" SSRs more. (Anyone want to buy them?)

Do you ever have anything good to contribute to these forums? The few posts I have seen by you have been bashing Hondas and we could use a little less hate in this world.
If not, show yourself out.

Rep Power: 0 I was looking at this thread and at post 13 he said that his car has 970000km which is about 600000miles is this true or is this just a typo?
If this is really true how many miles are you driving a year? those are some insane number for such a young car.

So you would kill yourself if you had to drive a car that made as much power as your $9k k20 swap, stock?? C'mon guy
I probably don't contribute much to this site, but i have gotten a lot of info from here towards my g/f's car, which is an em2.

Weather was like well above 0c.
As far as tuning, Honda did great job at the factory!
Bolt ons will affect factory settings, so a/f may be not as smooth.
Also with 20lb wheels, OMG, you're loosing power! May be as much as 3%.
So overall, with lighter wheels, you're looking at about 122whp and if you delete cat it will be another 5whp or so.
Your mods translate into 10-12% gain.
Very well done!

Or how about spending $10,000 on parts that have nothing to do with performance? (ie. show cars)

Rep Power: 285 ^ not honda civics, mustangs handle rather well now a days. especially ones like the cobra......a 93 lx im sure would be behind us in the twisties however.
im not fond of mustangs but respect is due, and ive got respect for a nice one.
oh yeah, and we gotta remember this is an economy car, some cars are built with performance in mind, some are built with economy and dependability in mind. so to expect big gains from little things is rediculous. an example would be the new z06's going from 500 to about 700 hp++ with simple intake, exhaust, maybe even throw in a cam upgrade....that is crazy

I'm sure a hot girl would rather go with a guy who drives a MB SL55 AMG than someone with an 11 second early 90's beater car. Note that by this comparison, I am NOT trying to compare civics to this in any way.
However, you also have to realize that some people have what they have to work with. My dad put a downpayment on my civic when I was 18 and I had a choice of a Ford Focus, my 02 civic or a 4-cyl Accord... nothing else. My parents are also very strict, so I cannot just sell my car, especially if I'm still making payments on it.
If I could've gotten a new car, I wouldn't have done an engine swap.
Be a little more open-minded next time.
