Aftermarket or Factory wheels
Aftermarket or Factory wheels
I have a 2002 Civic DX. Now I did a really stupid thing and put a set of alloy rims from a Miata (they were free). I got the center bore bored out to 56.1 mm like the Civic's but stupid me I used the lug nuts from my steel wheels and hubcaps (the acorn shaped ones). They didn't fit right and have caused the wheels to get worn around the lug holes.....stupid I know, anyway, I need new wheels. I have the choice of new aftermarket wheels and a set of used OEM civic alloy wheels (Both 15"). The cost is pretty much the same. Are the OEM ones any better since they fit perfectly and the aftermarket ones have a larger center bore? I know I can get hub rings (do I NEED them????). I kinda like the OEM look but I also like the fact the the others are new. Thanks for any advice. I know that the look of the wheel is important but either one looks good to me. I have attached pics of the two wheels

umm... this may be obvious, but are those the exact rims you have to chose from? cuz the aftermarket are 5 lug and OEM are 4 lug... anyways... i like the aftermarket.

lol..well it's two votes for each. I kinda prefer the OEM or stock look, but getting wheels from an autowrecker for the same price as brand new aftermarket seems like not such a great deal. Are stock wheels of better quality usually than aftermarket?

here's a pic of mine with those oem wheels. I really like them alot. Purely you're decision though. If you ever going to sell the car, it may look better to the buyer or to the dealer to have oem wheels rather than aftermarket wheels.

here is mine
you can always get some stock rims later but it all depends on if you want a stock look or modded. cause the 5 spoke up there isn't too bad looking.

i was at the dealer and saw the 06 hfp rims in bronze or gunmetal and they didn't look that great (the ones on the si). the smaller size ones are nicer but they're silver.
Gearbox, I agree that the regular si wheels look better, I have never been a fan of bronze or gunmetal. I actually really like the 06 LX/EX wheels, nice simple design (some might say plain). I actually chose the wheels I bought because they kinda reminded me of the 06 wheels (and to a lesser extent the 02-04 RSX wheels).

I think that the 99 si rims are only in 15 inch. Ive never seen replicas in 16, 17, or 18 inch
