Alright, my interior is black but, the problem that I have noticed is, its not all black
kind of hard to explain but, I have an automatic. There is a peice around the shifter that has the, PNRD,ect, the part is silver... I have looked at other members rides and i notice that its black. What the ****?
What do I have to do to get that peice off? And how should I go about painting it? Any certain brand paint needed?
thanks

you have to remove the whole center console.
take off the shift ****.
then unscrew the screw inside the rear cup holder,
and in the back i believe there are 2 screws aswell.
there should be 2 in the front on the each side aswell.
then you have to remove the rear piece where the ebrake is
so the console will slide out.
once the whole console is out you can remove the piece you want and paint it.
as for painting it sand it down good prime it, and they make interior paint you can buy.

lol thats mine. here is what you do. find the diy for removing the center console. there are two screws towards the back where the rear cup holder is on an ex, then there are two push clips at the front of the console. next open the pocket by the ebrake and pull up hard til the whole plastic piece pops out. there are more screws under there. now once everything is loose, the whole console piece from under the cig lighter to the back seat should lift off. you may need to move the auto shifter down to 2 or d3 so there is enough room. once the console is off, you will see the exposed shifter. now to remove the part you want to paint. use a screwdriver to pry it out from each corner. there are clips holding it on. it will pop out along with the plastic piece with the PRND on it. now take the piece inside. the shifter lever just has a couple screws on the back side and it will slide off.
now for paint, I used trim black (also called flat black) which is a non-shiny black color. i prepped the surface with very fine sandpaper and then used alcohol and a cloth to wipe off any residue. paint the dry pieces with 2-3 coats of paint outside when the weather is warm. go easy and don't spray too much at a time. i didn't even use primer and i'm shocked how well its holding up. been over a year and they still look like in the pic. now the handle is a bit tricky cause you have to tape up the whole thing with masking tape so that only the center silver piece is showing. repeat the same process to paint that one. let everything dry overnight if you can and then put it all back together. i tried to paint the ebrake button (while it was still in the car, stupid me couldn't take it off) but it just flaked off and i stripped the paint. pressing the button does that so i left that alone.
