whats the benefit of carbon fiber stuff?

what is the benefit of carbon fiber material for the hood or the trunk lid? Is it just for the show?

Depends on a number of things. Take the Z4 roadster for instance - when a company made a full carbon fiber body kit (I'm not talking bumper covers and sideskirts... the WHOLE body) it saved like 600lbs or something like that.

318lbs if you compare to the MT 3.0i Z4. 362lbs if you compare to the AT 3.0i Z4.

I overestimated the weight of a stock Z4.

it does the same for all cars. put a bunch of lightweight stuff on your car and you'll feel a weight difference.
