Anybody recently watch MTV's Next? There was a dude that claimed he owned a 2003 civic with major mods, so much MTV decided to fast forward that part cuz he was talking too much, and thus didn't get to hear what he had. Anyone know if he's registered on this site?

Also, this may be a newb question, but why did the 2006 RSX get bumped down in HP to 201 for Type S and 155 for base?

that is the new horsepower rating, honda and acura have a bew scale in which they rate their hp on now, don't worry they didn;t go down in power its still the same

yes honda's new scale is more acurate for hp reading but if u dyno pack it or dynojet it it'll come out to around 201 wheel hp not flywheel...same with the new 06 civic si it'll come out with 197 or so but when slightly modded it gets up to 214 and the type s gets up to 225...the type r gets up to 235-240 with slight mods like cai, etc..

honda and acura didnt change, the SAE ratings changed.
literally the definition of horsepower for automobiles has changed a little bit. in many cases hp is "lower" now.

its not honda's scale its the S.A.E.'s (society of automotive engineers) new HP rating which requires the consideration of accessories attached to the engine which drain hp such as air conditioning, power steering, as well as exhaust back pressure, engine oil etc. This took effect in August of 2004. And its not to the wheels. Asian cars seem to be at a disadvantage with this new HP rating system Ex: The Acura RL is no longer rated at 300 hp but at 290 hp; The TL was rated at 270 HP but is now at 258 hp; Toyota camry v6 was rated at 210 hp but now 190 Hp; 2006 corvette z06 was rated at 500 hp but now its rated at 505. american cars seem to gain hp based on the new rating system.
