New Car Purchase SRT-4 or EP3
I am thinking of buying a newer car when I graduate. But right now I'm trying to decide what to get.
By the time I graduate in May of 2006 the new hatch may be out and I hate the looks of it. I love the looks of the 2002-2005 hatch.
So....
A well taken care of, slightly used, EP3 with the rev hard turbo kit
OR
A new, off of the showroom, already turbo'd, SRT-4?
Which one would you rather have?
Any other cars I should consider in that price range, that i could turbo or are already turbo'd
(i'm leaning towards the hatch)

id take the ep3.
*RSX-S/TSX hybrid engine swap & RSX-S transmission swap
*turbo kit (greddy is nicer but more $$$ too) with FMIC
*few suspension mods
you are all set to be an srt, evo, and STi killer
that way you will have a fast car thats reliable! plus you arent driving a gay neon.

True, True.
I just dont understand why honda doesnt come out with a DOHC VTEC TURBO Civic that you can buy at a dealership.
Wait I know, it wouldn't sell because Honda would charge 30,000 for it.
You get what you pay for tho, I guess.

This has been covered many times. Reason #1: Turbo cars are simply less reilable, end of story. Reason #2: Honda is track/handling car company, not a striaght line company. Turbo's have lag, no matter what you do they will always have lag, and when shifting and tring to hit an apex at the perfect point, a turbo can be a hinderance. So for a track car, a long high revving N/A is the best way.

well when u graduate the 2006 hatchback wont be an SI here anymore...it'll be a nice new coupe which looks sick...i wouldnt go with the srt-4 or the si...for that price go with the mazdaspeed either miata or protogé/5...both are turbo cars and the miata is rwd too...both look pretty tyte and they cost about the same (maybe just a little bit more) than the si and are a comparable to the srt-4
I could have a brand new 04 si, 02 rsx type s, new srt-4, but i chose civic. One because when i get out of college it will be easier to pay off, so i can get my sti/evo faster. Two cause sedan ex looks better than si/shrunkenminivan/rollerskate and neon POS turtle. I would have taken rsx-s but at the time i thought it was only base model, not type s, even so i like my sedan. The new si has even less of a front end then 7thgen, which personally i think is the limit before you get huge windshield effect.
I really love my car. Love at first sight, saw her rear tail lights, and just the sedan look in general. So, i am biased cause love is blinding. I think i will keep my 7thgen forever even after i get sti or evo.
If i were you i would get 04-05 wrx and turn it into a monster!!!

Well if the info I've been seeing on the sites are correct then the new 2006 civic si is what your looking for. Six speed tranny, i-Vtec, DOHC, 200hp .... Itll be around 21k for it but hey like you said you get what you pay for and honda is being very reasonable me thinks.

SRT4.
Never the EP3, it's gonna be an already old model. It's used and your cutting the life of an engine that isn't made for boost. I would like to see you get more out of it than a factory turbo car. Both are FWD, but the SRT4 comes with LSD. Bigger motor and much easier to get more PWR out of.

The SRT-4 if money is an issue, but if you have all the money you need then get the EP3. It's gonna take some money to get it fast but it's gonna look better going that fast compared to a SRT-4. The only thing is that the SRT-4 will go fast for not that much money.

i'd rather take the srt-4. gut that **** and throw in some good suspension with a rear bias. it's always fun to kick the rear end out in a FWD car. scares the **** out of your passengers
