Buying a mustang and making it have better MPG is not the same. I do see your comparison, but we are talking apples and oranges.
The whole point is to go faster, and turboing a civic can get you a fast little car.
My first mod over 400 bucks will prob be a turbo, they are safe, 6-7 psi on our cars is perfectly safe, after a month a new clutch is prob a good idea. The only downside will be tunning alot, but i think it is worth it. With upgraded head studs and HG, around 10 psi will be pretty safe. Considering how much money wil be spent overall under 20 grand and how fast the car will be, i think it is worth it, considering i bought my car brand new, during the begining of the year. Off course the people at honda did not design this car to be fast, but that does not mean it does not have the potential. I just feel a need to make my car faster, and the fact that it is an econo box, a very good looking one, just makes its all the better.
Your sig is just negative.

Thanks for the kind words, guys, I appreciate it. I just get really sick of people posting myths as facts and other people believe it's true and then you have people with completely false information passing it on to new members and ignorance continues to breed ignorance.
I mean no disrespect but Gabe was running on a bad HG to beging with.
D17 will do well boosting 14psi with the right tunning and parts.
Anyone that wants to be a D17 hero and boost 20psi or over and get 350whp or over will have a lot of problems with it.
Know the limitations of the car is not meant for all that power but it can be a fun car if is use with moderation.

The biggest issue regarding the 7th gens is the lack of a viable tuning alternative. Older Civics and the RSX can greatly benefit from a standalone that can be properly tuned to account for boost. Past that, any engine can be made stronger, if the engine was made for economy, then it was not originally as strong as it could be. OEM turbo cars have better rods, pistons, cranks, and head gaskets, but they are not super special engines. They are just engines with forged components, lower compression, and a good factory tune.

its crazy, I didnt respond to this thread for like 5 or 6 days, and everybodys bitching at each other, haha.
Im swapping a new stock motor in here, and selling for a Mazda6 3.0. 220hp is a much better starting point, plus an intake and chip give me 20ft/lb. hehe

Id rather just put a new motor in though, so whoever buys this wont have a lemon. I would be pissed if somebody did that to me. Plus it will run better, and dont want to deal with the possibility that my head was slightly blown and warped the head a little.
Peace
i agree with andyman. If u have money and do it right then boost is worth it on any d-series mtr, but alot of people want to go n/a because boost takes alot of work and money.. and people have had problems and dont want to deal with them anymore..not sayin n/a is better or more easier but after seeing my friends and there boosted cars i give them props because they beat alot of cars and suprise people and work alot on there cars. If u know what u r doing or have a **** load of money to pay someone else u CAN make a 7thgen fast without having to swap. Or u can just use ur 7thgen as a dd and buy a hatch and work on that to make it a drag car.
