The spatula thing sounds sweet!!!!
I read on the forum that you can 1st clean the window with pure vinegar 2nd dry any excess off with a lint free towel or terry cloth and 3rd was window with an amonia -free glass cleaner.

...well so I go to the store to get these things and low and behold I find Amonia-free windex with vinegar!!!!!!!!!!!! IT"S THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try it. I have had all the problems yyou guys are talking about and now no streaks smudges or anything!!!!!! By the way the best time to wash your windows is first thing in the morning before the sun has time to heat the car or windows

yea that gives me trouble to. and i always use streak free windex and always always always end up with streaks. and whenever the sun is shining directly through my front windshield it reflects over all the streaks and i can't see shyt.
people should keep in mind that IF you windows are tinted, you no longer need glass cleaner...because you're not cleaning glass...you just need some very mild soap to clean the tint...that goes for rear window and sides if you got those tinted as well.
If you dont have tint and also on the front windshield just use a plastic cooking spatula overlayed with a cotton cloth...works wonders and it has great reach...
Lastly, the more often you keep your windows (and your car for that matter) clean, the less effort is needed on your part...
hope that helps someone.

that's some good info for the rear window. I fight with the film on the rear windows too. I have found that the invisible glass spray plus newspapers give you a good streakfree clean.
