not being an ***, but i think there's no more driving benefits of having a folding mirror in comparison to the OEM ones we have. IMO it's all about that whole "JDM" hype.

A few months ago while driving my mother's Audi TT, I was side-swiped by a drunk driver. Fortunately, I was able to swerve away from him in an attempt to avoid a collision. He ended up clipping the driver's side mirror. Had it not been the folding type, it most certainly would have broken off instead of folding in.
Please don't be a hater
Oh CiViCPrAnInG2k1, speaking of driving benefits. What do those door handles do for you?

yeah ur right there is some hype i guess with the mirrors. but about the parking thing, u can chose to park where u want...... but wen u get in late n everythings taken, n the only spots open are the spot infront of ur house that could get side swiped or 6 blocks away. which are u gona chose? my friends house is like that, n luckily he has folding mirrors which he can just push in so that they dont get knocked off by the traffic

my wife and I are looking a the new Maxima, for a family car. I didn't realize, until I test drove it, that it had power-folding mirrors. What other cars in the US have this?
The problem with the folding mirror is that it would still fall off if you hit from the mirror side.
for instance, you stop the car on the red light and a bike pass by from the back and it will knock it off.

From the pic I can tell that it is basically the same mechanism as the 96-97 accord folding mirror, unless you want to break some plastic parts, it would probably fold well forward. At least it can't fold more than 10 degree.
Again, they might get smarter by putting springs inside, that I can't tell. Did they put spring inside?

My stock mirror just got ripped off as the car was parcked. I'm so pissed. I don't want to replace it with a stock one 'cause it's just a matter of time before it gets ripped off again. Where can I get a set of folding ones from?
