Rep Power: 0 DIY:Relocation of Head Unit for 01,*PICS*
I know there has been alot of discussion about relocating the head unit in our cars. But here is a DIY for an 01 honda civic, and yes the cupholders are still functional.
---------------------------
1. Took out the bottom piece and cut out square with a dremel big enough to fit the cd player sleeve into the piece
2. Then I cut out the metal behind where this piece goes, also with a dremel
3. Then I test fit the cd player to make sure it was good and also to amke sure I had it pushed in as far as it would go.
4. Then I went and got some stretchable fabric. Grill Cloth or T-shirt material will work fine for this. I stretched it as much as i could and spray glued it to stay.
5. Then I brushed Fiberglass resin to make a mold and layed some fiberglass matte to make it strong.
6. After that is dried, I sanded it down using 60grit sandpaper until it had its basic shape back. Then I put a layer of fiberglass bondo to make it stronger and to fill the gaps, then once again sanded it down and primered to look for imperfections.
7. Then i sanded it down again, and cut out the hole for the cd player.
8. Now it was time to primer again, and go test fit it, to make sure it kept its shape and there was no snags.
9. Then i sprayed it with truck bed liner spray to give it that stock texture.
Here is the finished product. I have a motorized CD Player that will tilt up so i can see the display.

Rep Power: 0 Hey thats an excellent DIY. Where did you get the carputer? How much did the whole system run you? Someone move this to the DIY's forum... so everyone can find it easily.

Rep Power: 0 Thanks for the replies everyone.
skapunk82 - If you look in the pics above, I filled the stock space by stretching fabric over the entire front of the piece, then fiberglassing over it.
jeffsta17 - I will have the DIY for the carputer with a complete checklist and where i got each and every part. Be looking for that sometime next week. It will be in this same forum.

Rep Power: 0 yeah its pretty trashed. I have all the interior pieces taken out, because i am tinting the windows and i am looking for some spots to put the carputer. So I am not going to clean my car until everything is done.
