There is no way in hell you did 143 with the stock motor. I hit the governor on my D17 EX 5spd twice and it was 127mph both times. Unless you bypassed the governor it aint goin any faster....

my lx hits 118 but i also call bs on the 143 unless he has completely different internals theres no way to get a stock 1.7L up that fast. the camshafts and everything would be going so damn fast they'd melt! its impossible.

Like if I hear that some people can't get their's civic above 120 I can't belive It.
And civic doesn't have any speed limiter. In RPM's only.
Mine stops @135 and then I need like 15 min to get it to 140-145.

Rep Power: 0 I hit 140-141 once with my EX. It's pretty scary the car sounds like it's going to blow up. I did it coming home from school late at night (no one around). That same week I hit 170 with my 2004 Suzuki GSXR600. Also coming home from school on the Long Island Expressway. My tach was touching 15,000 RPM's. Now that I think about it, it was pretty stupid of me considering the number of deer on the road.

Rep Power: 0 My LX tops out at 120 in 4th, and 110 in 5th. Ive tried both, and you can hear the governor kicking in. EX probably has a little more, but not sure, since DX/LXs gears are longer? 143 is definately BS, unless it was 143 km, haha. probably.

Rep Power: 0 I hit 129 on the road, and i hit the max on the speedo on a solid sheet of ice. I have 01 manual ex coupe. I didn't think it could do it on ice cause 5th needs momentum but hell it did. So if you wanna try and max out your car do it on ice to at least see if it will max somewhere.
few things.
1) civics arent aerodynamically built to reach such high speeds so i doubt at 143 you would even be able to manouver if you had to, so its stupid as hell for you to do so.
2) going 140 isnt fun or cool when it takes you FOREVER to get there.
3) i doubt a stock civic ex lx anythingx will get to 143 unless you really are going downhill and im serious when i say this. think about the lotus elise having 190 hp with 1900 lbs it tops out around 150 .... now subtract 75 hp and add 600 pounds..... u really think you can do same? well if you think you can its retarded for you to try to do so ... even if you can
