guage cluster w/tach
guage cluster w/tach
i am looking to install a guage cluster with a tach in my automatic 05 vp, i know that the 2004's came with a tachometer in the guage clusters, does anyone know if it would wire up the same, or if it would even work?

04 vp's didn't come with tachs. with a vp, an 01-02 cluster would plug straight in, and an 03-05 cluster would work, with some rewiring. do a search and you will find some info. welcome to 7thgen btw.

01-02 clusters will plug straight in, doesnt matter if its ex or not. i think with the ex clusters though, the abs light stays on or something, but you can just cover that up

well, i can take the abs light bulb out, or just cover it, i dont have abs anyways, what i want to know is does it matter because of me not having a tach, that if i install one with a tach, will the tach work?

I have one for sale! $120 shipped and comes with el glow gauges on them. ABS bulb is covered with tape. Tach will work.
I would just try to find a non-VP 04 or 05 cluster. ebay would be your best bet.
I went from a 2001 DX to a 2002 ex cluster, and yes the abs stayed on. I haven't heard of someone with an 04/05 cluster revertting to a 01-03 cluster before and what the results were (but I haven't been around so much for a while)

There is a DIY on this, but its very long. You need to have knowledge about wires preferably, a few hours, $125 on an 03/04 cluster. Then you need to reflash the cluster
