Sunroof leaking
Not for Civic
The Maxima beater I got for the winter has a sun roof which slightly leaks.
Funny story. I decided to take the maxima into one of those automatic car washes...... so I'm in the car going through the car wash and I feel water hitting my head haha. I got owned.
I never had a car with a sun roof before so I dont know what to do in a situation like this to fix it properly.
I was gonna get some silicone or some type of rubber seal and put it around the sun roof but then I wont be able to open it.
Any suggestions?

Ok if its a manual sunroof its pretty easy to fix. I had to do this on my 91 eclipse. If your in the car the headliner around the sunroof should have a rubber gasket holding the headliner in place. Remove this and the headliner should fall down exposing a bracket with about 30 screws in it. Take out all these screws and the sunroof should pop out. Remove the old sealent with some bug and tar remover making sure you have two nice clean surfaces. Then apply a bead of 3m rubber sealent (should be black) to both the roof and the sunroof bracket. Dont use too much cause you'll just have to clean it up later. Then press the sunroof bracket back into the roof making sure to push all around making a good seal. Hold it down for about a good min or two just so it doesn't pull away when u let go. Now run your finger around the edge to help remove any excess, and create a good seal. Let it sit at least 2hrs before you drive it I beleive it takes 24hrs to fully cure. I almost forgot you have to remove the glass from the bracket as well. Should be a couple of screws and pretty self explanatory. Hope that helps. If its an electric one I think the principal is the same you just might have to deal with some wires and stuff.

now thats what i'm talking about. i would of never thought of this.... good idea man.
Yeah when I bought the car they told me it leaked. They took 200.00 off the price of the car. Cost me like 8.00 to fix myself heh. Took me a while to figure it all out, but yeah man its pretty simple. Glad I could help.
