Black Projectors?
hm, I never really thought about getting different headlights ... but now a lot of the newer sporty cars are coming out with (black) projector's ... since my style is going for an aggressive-oem look, I might be in the market for buying some ... had a few questions however ...
1. I heard something about the projectors pointed in the wrong direction? someone care to elaborate?
2. how is the visibility of the projectors?
3. am I better off with stock?
4. would I need different bulbs?
5. how would HID's look?
6. do you think the black projectors would go well with my color car? (look at My Ride ... color is Titanium Metallic)
I realize some of the questions have been covered before, however upon searching, I came up with nothing concrete enough. Some of the q's I also thought up while writing this, so I haven't gotten a chance to look around.
thanks~

1. Yup, you should aim the headlights before putting the bumper back on. Sometimes they come unaimmed
2. With proper aim, they are ok. But they will not light up the road as much as OEM.
3. Since you're going for 'the look', go ahead and get them.
4. all 7th gen projectors use h1 bulbs, but use stock harnesses. BUT You will need the sedan part that hold the parking bulb.
5. HIDs look awesome
6. IMO, black headlights match any color and will go well with your CF hood
good luck

black projectors are good, but i discourage gettin the halos, since i have them and can vouch that they suck (not just the halo part, though i didnt even connect it).
I got sum they look good and I like them.get them aimed first cuz they don't come aimed.as far as the halos and angel eyes I think they look nice.search for sume duals on here cuz I saw sum for 300 bills and they look bit(hin

3. Your call on the stock.
4. Projectors take h1, even if your get piaa h1's.. Still dim compared to OEM.
5. I am currently fitting HID's onto my projectors and riding on cleared OEM headlights. The only thing about after market HID's...They are illegal.

If your gonna do the whole 9 yards with the headlight, get TYC headlights and get a retrofit done. Pretty much PM impulse, as he has modded several headlights I believe. Just to let you get a general price, it will cost you about 700 bucks for the healidhts, valeo projectors, OEM HID kit, and labor for the retrofit and shipping back and forth to Impulse. I thought about it several times, and just can't myself to put that much money into it.
Go to this link, of a pretty cool custom headlight for halos someone is selling on this site. He painted his angel eyes NBP, and retrofit Audi projectors in there. I'll probably paint mine a glossy black too one of these days. Heres the url:

Don't worry about it. TYCs have a plastic lens for the low beam headlights. The low beam headlight is considered to be in a projector since the light is projected out of the curved lens to create a sharp cutoff and I guess possibly more light onto the road where you need it most.
The problem is that TYCs projector housing is crappy because of the plastic lens. So if you put an HID kit in there, your low beams will be brighter, but will not have the same appearance as BMWs, Audis, or other OEM HIDs with a glass projector lens. The appearance I'm talking about is the change in color of the light as you look at the headlights at different angles. Most people want this and it is mostly known for the purple flicker that is created as cars bounce up and down on the road.
So people do two things to get this purple/blue lighting. The hardcore way, is you cut out the housing that holds the plastic projector lens. Then you would take another cars glass projector lens with the housing and mold it into your TYCs (aka retrofit). You can't just take the lens because the engineering of the housing creates the best beam pattern and output. Then since you have the OEM projector housing, the slots for the bulbs is an OEM fitting. You can use some OEM HID kit, which is probably more reliable then aftermarket and is easier to replace parts if they break.
The other way of doing it is much cheaper and will probably cost you just $250-$300. You won't do a retrofit, but you will buy a HID kit with a higher temperature rating. All OEM HIDs are 4150 Kelvin. I think that's what the K means...haha. This is the temperature that produces maximum output with a white light. But since some don't have the money for a retrofit, they buy an aftermarket HID kit with a higher temperature rating. The higher the temperature, the more purple the light will appear. It goes from white to blue to purple. And of course theres the in between colors of those. The thing is that if you really want the purple color of OEM HID, you will be getting an HID kit at 8000K which will have that purple color all the time instead of a flicker and will also be less bright then OEM HIDs.
So that's the two methods of putting HIDs into TYCs. Some have put in HIDs into the OEM headlights and some have even done a retrofit into their OEM headlights. Another reason why people want to retrofit because there is a loophole in the law about HIDs. The law states that all aftermarket HIDs are illegal, but if the HID is in a OEM speck projector housing, it is legit.
