Finally raced in the Evo!
This is my first time racing an AWD car, nevermind the Evo.
But for those who dont know, I have a 3" turboback exhaust (turbo xs downpipe, greddy Ti catback, cat-delete) and AEM intake. No other performance mods at the moment. Stock clutch, stock boost, stock turbo.
First time out, I pulled a 13.6 @ 100.11 mph. I know of a few things I can adjust to better help the car. Next time I race my short throw should be in, along with Blitz EBC. Couple other small things, but they should put me in the low 13s with some practive on my launches.
My 60' times were consistently 1.9 seconds. Because of the stock clutch engaging somewhat high, my rt's were only .9 consistantly. I need to pull the pedal back a tiny bit as I stage and that should do it.
Any ideas/comments? Pics will be up when I get my damn broken camera back. Been 2 weeks now.

It's definately fun. Needs some small things here and there then I'll be really happy with the car. Beleive it or not, I think this thing is a better daily driver than my civic. 4 doors and a much higher ground clearance lol (compared to my slammed civ).
The civic is still in my garage all stripped apart. I was tempted to keep the civic on top of the Evo, but I just won't be able to afford the house. So the civic will be sold soon (my buddy from work is waiting for a final check from his rents then it's his).
I posted this up on the Evo forum as well. Hopfully I can bring my times down a lil with some practive.

No a buddy and I went last minute that night, I didn't even prep the car or anything...

nice numbers... 13.6 is damn fast.
BTW... reaction time has nothing to do with your 1/4 ET. You could have a 2.5 r/t and still pull a 13.6 again... the clock doesn't start till you leave.

What did you run in your civ?
I guy I know only ran a best time of 13.4seconds in his evo. His tranny started acting up and would not go into 4th gear or something and he called it a night after a few runs of it messing up. If I bought a car that expensive I would be pissed if it was not alot faster than my 7thgen.

quarter mile is fun and all... but with a car like that you really need to hit up some track days at lime rock and/or solo 1 or 2 class SCCA stuff. that thing is designed to handle - the straight line speed is a by-product. go race it the real way... drag launches will just make you eat clutches for breakfast in an evo. All drag racing involves is engine mods and the ability to shift/launch without messing up. test out some real driving skill at a track.

The Evo with an intake and exhaust was .9 seconds faster than my modded civic. Faster and still really reliable is a big thing to me. After I race I just drive it home, no switching tires or worrying about blowin the motor. I feel confident when I race the car. And on all 4 pulls the other night, I wrecked everyone they threw at me so I was content.

I hear you on that man. I just don't have full tracks in my area. It requires a huge commute, and being full time student and worker, it's hard to swing a big trip as often as I want. When I move I'll be getting into the bigger and better. Thanks though!

Did anyone see the Tuner Transformation when they took the Evo8 and revamped it. They got Vishnu Tuning to piggyback the ECU, upgrade some of the turbo system components, and add an additional fuel tank in the trunk just for race gas.
Final Dyno #'s:
Post Tuning (just Stage 1 upgrade): 250
Post Tuning (race gas and piggybacked ECU switch flipped to on): 327.7 whp
That is sick man! If I had an Evo8, and I knew I could change from street to race power at the flip of a switch....I'd be broke before I could spell E-V-O!
