48,000 service

Well I just got back from the dealership, Got my 48,000km (2 year) service wich is a type D service, basically adjust drive belts, replace filters, front and rear brake service, rotate tires, oil change, and lubricate hinges. I saved some money cause I rotated my own tires, clean my own intake and wasnt due for an oil change. But it cost like $220 (Canadian)! the majority of that cost was the labour for the front and rear brake service. Now what exactly do they do when they "service" the brakes? and how do I know they actually did anything to the brakes? I just got it cause I didnt wanna screw up my warranty.

If it only costed you $220 CAD at the dealer .. I'd only assume that it was a cleaning and lubing of the brake components. Unless they asked you about new pads/shoes - I very much doubt they replaced them for free.

Simple break down.. they charged you for taking off your tires, (for back)opening the rear drums up, cleaning them all off, inspecting them, lubing certain components, (for front) might just have been a cleaning/checking pad integrity, reinstalling everything, finally putting your tires back on

Easiest way next time is to ask your mechanic

Like janlop said, honda really doesnt even do half the **** that the service says. And half that **** you could have just checked yourself and done yourself. And you could have done it all for about $40-$50.

Did you change your own A/C cabin filter too? That is part of the 48,000km service and that filter alone is around $50 at partsource, not sure what Honda dealer would charge.

Yea, never goto the dealers!! Theyre bunch BS trust me. TO do most of the service yourself you need a funnel, floor jack, and an oil pan. The brakes you can diy. I bet when they say brake service all they do is check your thickness of your brake pads lol.

I think servicing the brakes is something to do with the 2 bolts on each caliper.....when I changed my pads myself one of those bolts was seized which was a huge pain in the ***......I was ready for the 100,000 KM service.....its the same type I think, and I ONLY did the oilchange and the tranny flush.....those are the things I didn't feel like doing myself....everything else is bull
