48,000 service
Well I just got back from the dealership, Got my 48,000km (2 year) service wich is a type D service, basically adjust drive belts, replace filters, front and rear brake service, rotate tires, oil change, and lubricate hinges. I saved some money cause I rotated my own tires, clean my own intake and wasnt due for an oil change. But it cost like $220 (Canadian)! the majority of that cost was the labour for the front and rear brake service. Now what exactly do they do when they "service" the brakes? and how do I know they actually did anything to the brakes? I just got it cause I didnt wanna screw up my warranty.

If it only costed you $220 CAD at the dealer .. I'd only assume that it was a cleaning and lubing of the brake components. Unless they asked you about new pads/shoes - I very much doubt they replaced them for free.
Simple break down.. they charged you for taking off your tires, (for back)opening the rear drums up, cleaning them all off, inspecting them, lubing certain components, (for front) might just have been a cleaning/checking pad integrity, reinstalling everything, finally putting your tires back on
Easiest way next time is to ask your mechanic

I think servicing the brakes is something to do with the 2 bolts on each caliper.....when I changed my pads myself one of those bolts was seized which was a huge pain in the ***......I was ready for the 100,000 KM service.....its the same type I think, and I ONLY did the oilchange and the tranny flush.....those are the things I didn't feel like doing myself....everything else is bull
