Carbon fiber hood today..
Hey.. just got one in, after an accident I had last friday.. luckily everything got taken care of very quickly..
Anyways.. I LOVE the hood, but the sides of it sticks up, somewhat.. not completely stock fit. The people at the shop said that's normal, since it's hard to mold CF, and I should just get some hood pins to hold it down, sure, why not.. makes sense to me.
I was just wondering whether you peeps out there with the CF goin on had the same issue.
So.. not complaining, just wanting to learn something about CF.
(my friend got a CF hood for his subaru, and it fit fine)
thanks

the new member stays there because of how many posts you have....post more to change it.
Got any pics?
hey now, this post is about ME!!
Now keep in mind there is some framework that needs to be done, and it'll get done in a short while.. so some of the front stuff will go away.. just look at the sides..
(no pics of before I got it fixed, but if you did see them, you'd be amazed)

I uhh... err... I'll talk to the shop about that... I really don't know.. I just told em to put the hood on, and straighten everything out.. Maybe lowering the hood will help.
I'll go take another look in a little bit.
and I did originally want the OEM style hood, but it's more than the vented, and they had it in stock, so you can't beat that.

well the bump stops you can do yourself, open your hood and find the little rubber things around the engine bay where the hood sits, i know most cars have them, though, i'm not in front of mine right now. You should be able to lower or raise them by turning them clockwise or counter-clockwise.
yeah, that's what I think. It's a good hood, I can tell that. I think I just need to finish the chassis work, and take it from there. The car is still "incomplete" as of now.
Thanks all the same guys, I now know what to look for better.

what you can do is get hood pins and that will hold it down more or do what I did. My hood sat a few inches higher on one side and I took it to a custom body shop and they bent the hood with some machine and put it back on my car and it fit perfectly. And it didnt hurt the hood whatsoever.
I know A LOT of guys who have CF hoods in the toyota club I'm part of and they've never complained about anything like this. But yes... the hood pins will help a lot. But keep in mind, if they don't, its not safe! Its gonna make your hood rattle like crazy on hi speeds. You don't want it flying into your windshield (happened to a friend of mine with his RSX).
