98 Civic DX...Where should I start?
98 Civic DX...Where should I start?
Hey all...This is my recently fixed up salvaged 98 Civic DX. So far I just got enough done to get the car registered and on the road. Now I'd like to get started on some fine tuning, intake, exhaust, turbo?, bodykit and rims. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated?
I was thinking to first get it checked out...maybe a full check up @ the local Honda dealer for safety, efficiency or any problems? Then what...I'm also on a tight budget.

I've got a set of blacked out OEM headlights with bulbs and a set of stock 96-98 taillights for sale if you want them. The headlights would look very sweet on you red car.
k20 = is not for the tight-budgeted people. It costs around or over $8000 just to get a k20a2 installed into an older gen civic, as there needs to be lots of modifications and labor-intensive work isn't cheap.
best bet would be NOT to add intake, header or exhaust and go with a b16 or b18 swap. b18c swap if your budget is limited, but you are persistant, b16 is you want something done quickly.

I'd start with a nice suspension setup.

Suspension is a good start... I'll look into recommended suspension setups.
Thanks all so far.

If you're gonna get a b18, get a b18c1 ... the others aren't worth it (unless you ls/vtec and you need to know a lot about it... in either case, it's not worth it in your position) and the b18c5 (type r) is way out of your budget too.
if you don't get a b18, b16 will suit you just fine. Any b16 would work, but obd2 b16's would be the easiest for you to work with by far.
stock for stock, a gsr owns a 99 Si in the 1/4 mile by about .4 seconds ... and both rev to about 8200, so what is that worth to you? ... the aftermarket is huge for both motors ... it's really a question of how good is your patience? ;P
