Ram Air Question
Ram Air Question
Ok these might be stupid questions but...i want to find out i want a project to work on.
1) Will a custom Ram Air system make a difference with my intake?
2) How to install it? Suggestions? Questions? Comments?
I have a intake on my 04 Ex coupe already but i wanted to try to get little more something out of it for low cost. I work in a hardware store so i can all the tubing and clamps for free, so i wanted to try something. Any suggestsion let me know.

Could you explain what you mean by "Ram Air?" When I think of RA, I assume there's going to be a hood with two huge nostrils and the filter situated right in front of them, but you made no mention of the hood.
....?
....?
Well i was looking to try to do the hood thing but in the future, i was going to just attempt to get a dryer hose, and connect it to the fiter, or make a extension on it to bring more air in from around the bottom of the front bumper or from a fog light hole.
I am not sure if i am going to go threw with it but i just wanted to see if there would be a impact (small or big) if i did this.
Thanks

I've been looking at doing something similar, I found this on the honda tech forums.

^^^ that one looks utterly useless. You need to enclose the filter in a box so the tube is the only place it can get air from. Otherwise its taking the path of least resistance.
I've been running my B18 box with no top, and just letting the filter draw air as it comes in through the front grill. It seems to work a little better than closed, but only really helps as the revs begin to pile up.

You can use special intake tubing that bends and holds shape. Check out partsexpress.com and look for it there I think. The thing is, ram air really won't work since the inlet would be too far from the TB. Any ram effect will be gone by the time air makes it's way to the engine.

1. Draw colder air
2. Less probability of hydrolock without the use of bpv
3. Utilizes the shortest path to the TB
But what we get is less noise (some of you likes the noise of an aftermarket intake) and it doesnt bother me.
And lastly, this thread belongs to TECH STUFF forum.
