So today's lesson is: drive it like a responsible driver that you are.

new mustangs are the slowest, falling apart pos car i have ever seen. at least get a transam or a old 5.0 mustang if your into the rice/domestic hybred type of cars that modern 'muscle' cars are today

Nice ride man. I had a dodge stratus before this ciivic. I test drove the SRT-4 and then drove across the road and test drove the Civic. Of course the SRT-4 was really fast, i loved the boost in that car, and the amount of boost they use on that engine is insane. It's a fun awesome ride, i like the way they look, especially when you change the wheels, debadge and drop it down, than it looks like a mean machine. The stock exhaust sounds really nice to. To this day i still wish I would have got the SRT-4 over the Civic. I did'nt think i could afford the SRT-4. My payments would have only been $100.00 more a month for the SRT-4 and I thought i was pushing my luck with the civic. Heck i can pay for this just fine and i have plenty extra, to where i could have gotten the SRT-4. Even though my car is an '04 and only 3 months old, i'm still tempted to go trade it for the SRT-4. Only thing i'm worried about in that car is the depreciation. Regular neons depreciate really fast and thats what i was kinda worried about with the SRT-4. Where as the Civics tend to hold their value really well.
Good choice of car man! I'm jeleous.

c) economic

e) looks ______ (fill in the blank with positive adjective)
Bad reasons for buying a civic:
a) HP/engine performance (unless you got the money to change this)
in any event if you bought your civic thinking it will be faster than cars out there, then it's your fault when you find out it isn't and that there are a lot of better cars out there. Don't bash a car for your misjudgement. it is only a car after all

I wouldn't say I was bashing on the Civic. I did give it its props. Just because I want something faster doesn't make the Civic any less of a car than what it actually is. Afterall I did buy it for its reliabilty (and looks) and it has lived up to that; up to now. It's a great car and probably won't stop being one for a while, but priorities can change.

yea man ive already debadged everything except the srt-4 and have a 3 gauge pillar, already have volt. and air/fuel i just need another gauge, dc strut bar, eibach pro kit with new front bushings and new endlinks on the way. o yea i have the greddy turbo timer shipped today so itll all be coming in next week sometime.the timer i got comes with some kind of kit made for the srt so it should work. lol i won about 1700 in biloxi so i have some $$$ to spend on it. but yea after i get all the preventative mant. stuff out of the way im getting some gunmetal with polished lip 18's and a tint job. i think itll be pretty tight looking. but yea thanks for the grats guys, after i get all this **** in ill post some pics up for you guys. why you say i wasted 20k invasian? i only spent 17 on this and i love it and the payments are the same as the vic?

Can you explain to us why it would make a bad car for that sport? I know because of the turbo but why?

yea i dont race all the time so the autox thing doesnt really appeal to me. i just like having a quick daily driver without all the problems with aftermarket induction on a stock car.

2nd, it has 0 camber on the front... From the factory. any one who says that it was designed for the Autocrosseres is DEAD wrong. 0 camber is only good for drag raceing.
3rd, FWD turbo is possibly if not actually be the most pain in the *** setup to push around a track. Its hard to do well, but those that can... have my respect.
4th, It comes stock with 17s.... Not exactly the best size wheel for the sport, specificaly for the stock classes (very limited tire selection)
5th, if modified it gets bumped to CSP, the playground of the 1.8L miata and the CRX two cars that are substantually lighter then it. (example of how it may fare came from my experiance at the Atwater pro solo a few weeks ago, a SRT-4 Ran CSP and came in 11th 4.3 seconds off the top car, at the National tour event the next weekend that same Srt-R came in 6th, and was 8.484 seconds off the top car) So I dont see an SRT-4 winning CSP any time soon, at least not nationally. alternatly if only mildly modded its legal for STU, wich is a new class and hasent really established a top car yet, so it may do OK there. (Runnign against STis and EVO 8s......
basically it comes down to that the SRT-4 was either too much or too little, and dodge seems to have aimed it at the street racing/drag racing croud. Un like the old Neon ACR wich was a Dedicated Road racer..
Ah, that explains alot.
I've never driven a car with a turbo let alone a FWD turbo so it's hard for me to imagine the difficulties one would have in this area.
Let's disregard the other obvious reasons the SRT 4 would not be a good AutoX car for the moment.
I guess I'm curious as to what the difference the FWD Turbo would makes lets say vs a RWD turbo or AWD turbo.
What makes the FWD turbo such a difficult setup to drive in an AutoX?

Corner exits, Even with an LSD its very easy to enduce understeer on corner exit with a FWD turbo car by just using a little too much gas = slower Lap times.
Turbo in General isnt really the most Autocross/road race Friendly type of forced induction, it has gotten much better over the years, but it still has its issues (mostly regarding the lag, and what you can/need to do to keep the Turbo spooled). essentially if you can keep the turbo spooled your in good shape, however doing so is harder then it sounds. Most road racers have gotten in to the habbit of heavily left foot braking and being on the gas at the same time (for corners). the idea is that the Brakes should over power the engine (slowing you for the corner), and the power on should keep the turbo spooled. this comes at the cost of both brakes (wich get severly over worked) and Clutches (Being on the gas and brakes forces the clutch to slip, causing extra wear) However, these have become nessisary evils (so to speak) because if you dont do this and the guy next to you does...... you'll be looking at their tail lights come the next straitgh-a way
also, if you dont keep the turbo spooled the Power spike can upset the car at the wrong time (Like mid corner) and make the car slide/spin. this of course depends on the power of the spike and the skill of the driver. (the S2000 has a simmilar problem with the Vtec, if it kicks in mid corner... you better be ready for it, because it will want to bring the rear end around).
So, Turbo on a Race car (road race/autocross) can be problematic if you cant keep the Turbo spooled or if the Power spike is to big.

Cool, I knew talking to you would clarify it for me. I didn't think the article I read was credible anyway. I wish I could remember where I got it.
I have a race track really close to my house. I'm so tempted to get into AutoX. However I need to get another daily driver first.
Thanks for your posts!
Sorry for getting so far off topic everyone.

Congrats man. The first thing thats a must is a good drop on that car.... it looks funky being at factory height. But if you drop it, it will own looks wise.
Samething with the new Si. Factory height it looks funky but once its dropped it becomes a totally different car.... same witht he SRT4.
Good Luck
