S2000 neon light footwell install w/pics
Installed neon lighting in the footwells today. Here are pics and the final result.
Basically it's set up like this.... Whenever the dome light goes on, i.e. i hit unlock on the remote, or open a door, the neons come on too.
I also installed a switch that can bypass that and allow me to turn them on and keep them on. What can I say.... us S2000 folk just can't leave our cars alone. I had some help on the wiring diagram and location of certain wire taps I had to make. Luckily a few electrical engineers own S2k's.
First pic.
this is where i installed the neon tube on the passenger side. I wedged it along the side so it's actually holding itself in. the panel above where the neon light is, is also where the convertible speed sensor wire is. I removed that so I can put the top up/down while moving. hehe

Here is the driver side neon. You an also see the wire coming from the right for the passenger neon. The driver side is held with zip ties to various wires/harnesses/framework under the steering column. Though it looks like I could hit it with my knee, that's just the camera angle. It's up there, believe me.

I put the fuse connector wire right to the battery, then ran the wire to the driver side and through an existing hole in the firewall. If you use a hanger or have small hands, you can force the wire through since some wires already go through this spot on the firewall. I actually found it easier to do from the inside out.

Now here's where the wire is for the keyless entry module that you want to use. this turns on the neons when the door opens or the dome light goes on when you unlock the car with the remote. The keyless entry module wires are just up and toward the door from the hood release. You can see my vampire tap on the top left (the maroon/red lookin thing)

Here's a better picture. This is from the floor kinda looking up under the steering column by the start button. You can see the harness in the middle actually plugging into the keyless entry module right about the center of the picture. Again you see my vampire tap. And you can see where this is in relation to the hood release. Use a flashlight if you're not sure, and the keyless entry module has a blue sticker on it, stating something to the effect of being the keyless entry module.
Tell me what you don't like about yourself....

lol damn calm down. i'm doing some aesthetic mods first, before I hit the engine (except I have the CAI coming in this week). S2000's take quite a bit more money to make faster than they already are.
And it's not like 13.7 stock is something to scoff at anyways.

^ word to that.
Yeah, thats a pretty basic install. You should hook up some varad single red led's throughout the car to achieve the same thing. One 1/8 of an inch LED protruding from the side or whatever makes a hell of a difference...and u cant even see it.
Good work.

thats amazing how al of a sudden Neons are cool. if that car was a civic instead of an s2k there would be lots of negative feedback.
or even better if the owner was a girl then everyone would be responding to this thread
