Black civic coupe

My wife has got her eye on a secondhand 1999 black civic coupe. It seems to be in great condition with only 40,000 km on the clock, infact better than my 2001 Civic sedan.

Are there any standard faults or recals to look out for with this model civic coupe?

To my knowledge there were no recalls or if there were they were not worth worrying about. The 6th gen Civic coupe was a great generation of Civics, other than looking for the standard things the car should give years of trouble free service if its maintained properly.

What model is it? DX, HX, EX?

yes... i like the 6th generation of vics the best. my sister has a 98' 2dr civic ex and it looks good stock, not to mention it looks more sportier then the 7th gens.

I also like the 6th gens the best. Looks so good stock and there's no need to even mod it much.

I think it's the DX model with leather seats, airbags and ABS. It has also got a tall OEM spoiler.

WTF?? DX with leather seats, they never came with leather it must be aftermarket. Hopefully it is a EX those Y8's are great engines and there are alot of parts available for them.

I'm in Bangkok Thailand, the land of sedans only, But they did release a coupe during the 6th generation for the first time ever.

The problem is, all coupes in Thailand are autos with Airbags, ABS and leather trim etc. They're too lazy to drive manuals here.

Nice car as far as recalls they should all be done considering it one of the last year of that generation and they didnt have many to begin with for the 96-97 models. So there shouldn't be any recalls on it to be done just check general things that you usually do when buying a used car.

Well, the black one was sold when I went to see it, so I bought this imaculate, Dec 2000 with only 54,000 km and 17 inch rims.

What do you think?

Yep, got it very cheap and it drives great, only 55,000km on the clock. It drives better than my 7th gen civic.

I found out that the car still had 5 months 1st class insurance left on it, so I had the stone chips and minor dents re-sprayed by honda and it looks like a showroom car again. Gona buy a new CD audio system with the cash I've saved. What should I buy? That's the question.
