got an estimate....

today i went to this auto place which i believe does some decent work and mostly works with insurance companys. Well its raining outso i park out front and then the guy is like can i see ur keys and im like, uhh. why do u need my keys, last time i came here they just went outside to look and hes like oh i gotta pull it around back. so he does and then i cant go in the back to watch and they just leave my car back there for like 30 minutes with all those young little mechanic guys who i dont trust, lol. i even asked the lady can i go in the back and shes like no, its an insurance thing, i was like grrrrr. no one touches my car, its just a friggin trunk. Well the guy gets in the car and its on a hill kinda goin forward. so he starts it up and then as he backs up it just rolls and it seriously looked like he smashed my front bumper cuz it was probably no more then an inch from the cement. i was like, HOLY ****!!!!! i thought he smashed my tsunami front. I swear i thougt this guy didn't kno how to drive. I even told him it was stick before he took the keys. Of course hes the only appraiser. Well he does his thing and then comes in and leaves my car in the back while he talks to me about what he has to do to my car. I went there to get my trunk lid painted cuz it was a little scratched and a little rust. He tells me he has to strip it all the way down and then re-zinc it, then sand and paint and clearcoat and etc. He said it comes with a full warranty for the life of my car that the paint wont chip or rust at all. Well he tells me all this good stuff and charges me for the little things, like .2 hrs for the "H" emblem, then the license plate molding costs like .7 hrs to do cuz thats not part of the trunk. so to finish it up, he says it ends up being 3.5hrs x 42 in parts, 4.9hrs x 42 in paint, and 4.9 hrs x 20 in supplies. Ends up costing 491.36 total to repaint it. I was like, uhhh, and luckily i told him that i was gonna remove the "civic" on the trunk or he woulda charged me 20 bucks for that. I think thats quite a lot to get done because i got my rear full bumper painted for 150 and im not gonna take it there tho cuz i have a long story about that place. Plz dont say cf trunk cuz i dont like that, but im obviously gonna keep it the way the trunk is now because i dont wanna dish out 500 bucks to repaint something that is gonna get screwed up anyways. Its not noticeable or anything really anyways unless u are really picky. I was shocked at almost 500 cuz it wasn't that much anyways. A little rust on the two edges and a few scratches which are surface. Sad how much they wanna charge to do this stuff. Sorry if its so long, haha. just had to vent.

i forgot to add...

he was trying to make it sound like a deal by going, u also got nightblack "pearl", i was like, and... whats that matter dumby, its just a type of paint

edit: theres rust on it cuz i bought the stock trunk from a salvage yard. i do have the stock one but it has an aluminum wing and no rust or no scratches. might just put that back on instead, haha.

its okay... Im estimating about 500 bucks with parts and labor to get my dash removed and replace..... All becuase of the d@mn seat hitting it gently I tell you! And the thing is I cant say Im picky its obvious..... Im broke becuase of the custom seats....sooooo I got to charge it. The main thing is here. You pay for what you get, if hes good service hes going to be expensive, its just how things are.
