My car went in the shop last night to get the head and recipricating assembly removed. The head is going to DH for thei full race build, and the pistons and rods are going to KMS to get lightened. Im also installing a KMS deck guard, and getting my turbo ported. Oh yeah and a few more secret projects.

ur taking the motor apart, understood, block guard WTF!!!!, forget the head and sleeve the thing, u will get way more power building the bottom, yea yea yea better air flow, whatever, try 10 more psi and ull get 3 times power over the head, and by the way, how do u lighten the pistons and rods, are u talkin about just getting new ones or i dont know shaving the stock ones. and if ur getting everything at DH, dont the do a blockguard too

The recipricating assembly are the rods and pistons. The pistons are getting shaved and micro pollished. I might not do anything w/ the rods b/c they will hold the boost level I want to run. So in fact I am doing a mild bottom end build.
The head is where the crazy work is though.
As far as a price Id rather not say at this point.

I don't think i'd trust stock d17 rods over 10 for very long. This didn't happen under boost, just shows a d17 rod gone wrong.

I dont even think they make rods for our cars. DH josh said he thought that eagle makes rods for another engine that would work but he hasnt got back to me yet. The last option would be to have some custom made but that is way to expensive.

what YOU did will happen to any engine... notice the fact that theres no OIL in there.. hmm.. u hydro locked it dude... that has nothing to do with what rods or internals u have.
My engine had plenty of oil and no water inside and still snapped the rod like a pretzel.

But at any rate, i wouldn't trust a d17, or any non turbo, turbo'd motor at over 10 psi without some block work done, its just not safe.

good luck, u think the cylinder walls are going to hold, 15 let alone 18, i got news for u, they arent going to, ur going to split a cylinder wall. or ur going to shift the walls so bad that the head gasket is going to blow and the coolant is going to flow in there and singe the pistons and they are going to expand and gouge into the walls. if ur going to go pistons and rods, u better sleeve it or its not worth it. go ahead and try 15 psi, over time , and if this is a daily driver sooner than expected ur going to have heated the walls up so much so often it will happen, darton has MID wet sleeves coming out at the end of next month, hmmmmmmmmm......why do i know this...hmmmm
