What would you do a repair or get a new ride?

Well had a huge ice storm come through and it took down what I was storing my ride in out of the weather it messed up the top of the roof with a huge dent and scrape and there are some other mega scrapes on the car. Now would I be better off doing a 500 deductible and have my insurance go up? or just go tell them hey I want to trade in on a new civic or accord? What would be better in the long run? I was looking to get rid of the civic by the end of the summer anyway but my time just sped up on me.

Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Get an estimate done.. then try to decide if its worth fixing or just selling it the way it is. If it can be fixed at a reasonable price that will make it worth more come trade in time, then I would get it done, though I'd try not to use my insurance company.

sorry to hear that but yea get an estimate and see how much it will be to fix. IF yo do fix it the insurance wont go up that much. But if it isnt worth it to fix then trade it.

Well took a good look at the ride today and the majority of the damage like deep dents and paint scratches are on the top of the ride on the sides of the top. I do have one smal dent around the door handle handle area that isn't that bad but as for the top of the car yeah its going to need some mega work. But yeah any idea how much would the insurance go up on a claim like this? would it be way less then for say if you got in a accident? Also would the insurance be less then say like on a new accord? Yeah probably end up fixing the damage either way since I only have like 15,9 for mileage on the ride and be cheaper then get insurance on a accord.

I don't know how it is with your insurance, but with mine if the damage is of no fault of mine it will not raise my rates. You may want to talk to your insurance company it might not go up at all. My deductible is also $500

Well got back from my guy at the detail shop and yeah the quote he gave me was like 2200.00 so yeah I doubt I will be paying for the repairs out of my pocket. But yeah anyway talk about a change of plans on mods and other things. Any ideas how much the insurance would go up with when I claim this? or shouldn't claim it and just ride it out with the car and then trade it in?

Well your insurance should not go up. If it does, than it shouldn't be much. I mean the damage was due to a storm right? Just ask your insurance if your rate is going to go up.

I guess it depends on how much time and parts you've invested in your ride. If it were me, I would get it fixed. Trading wound not be an option. Check with your insurance just to be sure on costs.

My parents said it will go up probably about 500 a yr uggg. But yeah it was a ice storm involved but it was a portable car shelter so don't know if that would be covered under car insurance or home insurance.

Technically, it is his fault because he did not properly shelter the car.

However, you rates would most likely go up. Because if you are driving and a rock hits your windshield and breaks it, and you have the insurance pay for it, your rates would go up then. Same with hitting a deer. Even if it is not technically your fault they will get you. The insurance companies are a bunch of *******s just out to make a buck. They will try to screw you any way they can. My damn company raised my rates even though I was stopped, and the girl hit me. I am even going threw her company, her company is the one that is paying. My rates are going up though. WTF!!

Yep yep either way the car won't be getting fixed anytime soon since my job has cut hours so until I get some money flow again I could care less what the car looks like appearance wise because I am not doing anything or dating so no need to impress anyone. LOL with my luck I would get it fixed then another thing would happen this mth so yeah mid February I may send it in when possibly the weather gets better.

Your insurance must suck then. I had a rock bust the windshield in my truck and they didn't raise my rates. They also didn't get raised when I had my civic vandalized. 2 tickets again no problem. In fact my insurance dropped by like $10/month starting this month due to my accident free discount being increased.

being as it was at your home, and in your shelter you can probably claim it on your home owners insurance.

Yeah they told me it would probably go under comp with my auto insurance. She didn't think my rates would go up so need to check with them tomorrow. But yeah a nice 2200.00 estimate so need to go check with another shop to compare.
