Old engine blew wasnt a swap!!

The only viable swap for us would be the 3sgte which would be like a b18 c5 for you guys only turbo! lol although I heard rumors someone is trying to put a b18 c5 in a gts. But anyways Our engine is the 2zzge!

My friend blew his motor in his 01 GT-S. Problem is that when Toyota designed the shift gates, they put them too close together. So, my buddy went to downsift from 7200rpm in 5th back to 4th, but missed and ended up hitting something like 10000rpm in 2nd.

So, he ended up bending vavles and stuff and had to get a new motor. Something like $6000 in damages or something. Oops.

would have been $9000 BUT mine was under warranty cause it was a factory defect.

long story short theres a spring controlling the back forth movement of the shaft and it broke so I shifted into 4th gear at 92 mph and there was no 4th gear there was only 3rd and 2nd so it selected 2nd and bam no more tranny and the oil pump also blew destroying my whole engine!

the dealer had my car since 9/20/03 and I just got it back last night.

Also since it was out I put in the highest grade TRD clutch/Pressure Plate which is 30% stonger then stock! I also got a new stock flywheel. So once I'm outa the break in period I should be getting even better times!

If you had 2nd and 3rd gears, why did you pick 2nd gear if you were going 92mph?? 3rd gear might have lessened the damage

lol well I was at redline in 3rd and shifted into 4th but 4th wasnt there. I had no idea the spring broke when I shifted into 3rd. We didnt find that out until they opened the tranny. it's a common problem in the 00 GT-S where that spring breaks. so they replace it with an 02 tranny.

my car isnt technically stock anymore though since I upgraded the clutch. And also I had my seats and rear panels out to get that time. full interior including spare I got 14.65 with a low 2.3 60'. Hopefully I'll be in the 14.2 area with the new clutch and I'm gonna slap in an Intake.
