Angry I Hate Old Men!!!!!!

Ok, today I am on my way home from my girlfriends, I go straight through a green light. A 75 year old man going in the opposite direction that I was going, pulls into MY LANE, coming at me head on, just so he can make a left hand turn onto a street before the light (he would have had to wait for the light to change to turn left even though the turn he made had nothing to do with the light, traffic was just bad). I slam on the breaks (I was doing between 35 and 40 with the speed limit being 35), He cuts the corner left and I slide right into his back passenger wheel. My poor car has a busted head light, bent fender, bent hood, broken bumper cover, 3 pages of **** that needs to be replaced. $3149.32 of damages to be exact . Both the old man and I pull over, I had never been in an accident so i had no clue what to do except call the police. I tell him i'm gonna call, he takes my insurance card, gave me his, and told me not to call and we can agree that it was my fault and be done with it . F%$# NO I'm not saying it was my fault when it was obviously his. He leaves, cop comes, cop goes to see him, gives him a warning for pulling into my lane instead of citing him, what the hell. Oh well the cop said it was his fault so I'm happy. I will try to post pics of the damage if I can figure out how to. WARNING: If you see an old man on the road, STAY THE F%$# BACK!!!

yeah, theres alot of old people around in my neighborhood. Basically Ive told myself that if it ever happens, I BETTER not just go out and kick thier ***, because Im fundamentally aposed to people driving at that age, and if it were my car, it wouldnt be hard for me to beat the **** out of them. Anyways, I hope there wasnt any frame damage, cause your car wont ever feel the same unless you have a damn good body shop fix it....

damn... sorry to hear that!

The scariest thing that happend to me was when i was sitting at a light in the left lane (im going to make a left) as the light turns green im halfway towards the street i want to go too.... All of a sudden i see a mercedes (he blew the red light) flying towards me, the guy then steered away and went into a curb... (not that bad of damage compared to what could have happend)

Damn.. I love mercedes... Such great quality in performance, Haha

when i was 14, i was hit by an old lady in a f**king buick, go figure, old women in a buick. she took off, but luckily some lady in a suburban pushed her into a grass driveway and saved my ***. there needs to be a federal law about old people driving.

and thats so true, no matter what, if a kid gets in an accident with an oldee, they assume its the kids fault, just because no experience in driving or some half a$$ sh*t like that.

but dude... young peeps do drive like maniacs. You knowit's true... some kid sportin an 87 camry with a weed whacker exhaust thinks hes at Daytona, cutting in and out of traffic. I've been in two accidents in my life, and both were cause by teens. There are good ones and bad ones, old and young, so let's not generalize... besides we ALL KNOW that people from the Islands are the worst drivers anyway. Let's unite against them instead of each other!

How old exactly are you dude? im 19 and I dont drive like a maniac, I have NOTHING on my driving record whatsoever. thts right, Ive never even gotten a warning. Sure some kids drive like maniacs, but old people drive OLD, they dont pay attention to traffic, they drive huge carsso they can do the most damage possible, old people are simply not capable of driving in society today when everything is going on so fast.

A person's car doesn't reflect how they drive. My civic has a kit, exhaust, and more. Well guess what--I drive the speed limit. So do many other younger drivers. Old people aren't stupid in most cases. They just physically can't drive as well.

And you're basing this on your extensive knowledge, and experimentation of elderly folks? And all of your "exhaust and more" is just for looks? You say a person's car doesn't reflect how they drive, but neither does age... just remember one thing... Recent studies show that a daily regiment of eating 2-3 babies decreases the chance of heart attacks in men before the age of 40.

I used to know an old lady named elisabeth. She drove better than I did at the time, and she was 90!.
At 92 she did sideswipe a parked car, and said: " That's it. Now it's time to stop driving." And she did. She WAS a good driver, and not slow, either. But when she tapped a car, she realized that her eyes or reactions were getting too slow and WISELY decided to quit driving. I respect her for that.
Age has little to do with it. It's the shape you are in, and clarity of mind.
I hope I have the clarity to give up my freedom to drive when I start making mistakes like that. Most people refuse to. They cling to their cars, because it is a type of freedom.

I totaly agree with gearbox.... alot of people put stuff on thier car for looks or the sound, you dont have to go out and pull stupid ricer-flyby crap because you have stuff on your car,and old people are not really physically able to drive as well as younger people.

Explosivo- You still have yet to explin yourself though, why hold the old people in such high esteem, unless your really 75 (which I doubt you are) you would see old people driving recklessly all the time. Even though teenagers drive bad sometimes, Old people cant always:

1.see over the dashboard
2.stay awake during the day
3.see well because of eye problems
4.adjust themselves to driving in the current fashion (people drive abruptly and fast now)

at least if a teenager is driving bad, they are probably not asleep, and can probably see what they are doing, and they might just correct themselves and move along, old people are set in thier ways and think they are always right, which I have just determined is not the case.

Face it, most people under 21 and over 65 can't drive. I'd say that there's a good chance that many accidents are the fault of someone who falls in either of those age groups. The difference is that the old people aren't trying to drive like an a-hole, while the 17 yr old punk probably is.

A kid in my town just died this week racing some other kid. It was really sad, hopefully the other kids in town learned how dangerous street racing can be. You're really playing with your life every time you race in an environment you have no control over.

this is too funny... are you guys serious? old people can't see over the steering wheel and stay awake? lol... anyway, if I must explain my "esteem" for old people... rofl... when you're 19, you think you own the world and everyone in it. I know, everyone's going to tell me how that isn't true, but the fact that this thread is here is good evidence of that. I myself was 19 once. I am now 29. And, I've just come to respect the longevity of life and those who have experienced it. I'll be 75 one day, and don't want some 20yo telling me I shouldn't drive. Moreover, my dad is 75. He's 6ft, and a solid 200lbs. He works out daily. We go sailing every weekend and climbs our 40 foot mast like he was a monkey. AND he bought an 03 vic a couple of months ago because he likes mine so much and drives like a champ. His wife is 35yo and a honey. When you're 19, you think 25yos are "old" and life is over at 40. So, what I am saying is, don't "generalize" anyone because it is ageism, racism, sexism, etc... and, EAT MORE BABIES!

wow, I never said I owned the world, don't put words in my mouth....

"I'll be 75 one day, and don't want some 20yo telling me I shouldn't drive."

ok, you dont want people to say it, but my mom who is 46 doesnt think her mom should drive, same with my dad and his parents, its not just us "incolent youths".

So your dad leads an active lifestyle, THATS whats keeping him on his toes, most all old people take thier SS check, sit at home at do nothing , and when they do go out, they are so out of it from everything they drive like they do. Your view of older people is squed because your dad is unlike 99% of older people.

I dont take kindly to people putting words in my mouth, and I get generalized everyday, by insurance companies, police officers, and by everyone else. So yeah, Ill generalize if I want to, Im a victim of it all the time.

Dude you seem to think people sit waiting for death after 50 or something... "99%"?!? The security guard at my work is 73 and extremely athletic. He has calves like carl lewis. An argentine jeweler friend of mine is 76 and has a new girlfriend, and drives a sweet lexus. WTF are you talking about 99%... I think you must only notice the ones who are decripid... so yeah, you must think young people rule the world... anyway, I just realized I am arguing with a noob so cya...

I didnt say people wait for death after 50, but you need to understand that the human body doesnt retain 100% of its function for 75 years, so you know like 3 people that are old and are in good shape. GOOD FOR YOU! Im saying that almost every older indivdual ive ever seen drving looked out of it, and not fit to drive. I have plenty of Aunts, Uncles, and people I know that are 50-60 and are still in great shape. but to think that people have this undeniable right to drive a car is rediculous, someone posted in another thread that older people should be given a driving test, and I see no problem with that.

Yet again though, your say "you think you own the world" no I ****ing dont, If I ruled the world there would be some changes, I dont own ****. I have my civic, and thats about all I have in this life right now to call my own.

So watever man, if you think that you can just put words in other peoples mouths, and define reality on 3 cases of what youve seen, your too close-minded. You have to put words into other peoples mouths just to prove your "point", so I guess im not the n00b afterall...

to handle the old people "menace" they should be given a driving test once a year if they're over a certain age... then, if they are physically able (as deemed by the DMV) to drive safely along with regular traffic, then they should be allowed to be on the road.. if not, then they need to use the bus or something.. that would fix a lot of the problems involving senile drivers and ****.. my 2¢

^^ I agree 100%, there should be some sort of test after you reach a certain age. I think when you hit the big 65 you should have to take a test every once and a while, just to make sure your still up to it.

I totally agree with having to take regular tests after a certain age as well. I'm 39 now, and I can't belive how some people drive, both young and old. But the reality is, that the bad drivers don't get nailed because most of us are quick enough to avoid the accident they would otherwise cause.
I recently found out that my neighbor had cataract surgery because he was nearly blind. But guess what.... he was still DRIVING!!! OMFG!!
HE thought he was ok. Just because he was not personally involved in the wrecks he may have caused, the DMV just renewed his licence. THAT's the problem. People should be tested from time to time. It would be safer for all of us.

I absolutely agree with the topic, old men and lady's driver are suck!! I think government better cancel their driving license after 60. Then give them ride from some social workers or someone else, trust me, the road accident rate will deduct automatically.

I just want to add that young people are the ones that tailgate and talk on the cell much much more than old people. I see old people drive too slow or not competently. Both sides have their bad ones so they both should be banned from the road. Heck, everyone should be banned except for me because I'm the only competent driver.
