2002 civic meets 2002 focus
I just had quite the crash. A old woman pulled a U turn on a side street, and came back into my lane. Her ford focus drivers side met the front end of my civic at 55mph. Heres some pics of my civic. Not sure how extensive the damage yet, insurance to look at it today....

Ouch! Hope everybody was okay after that. I had a fender bender a month after buying mine back in '01. Damage was mostly cosmetic, but looked worse than that. Total repair bill was over $5000. Mostly because it was a new car and prices on parts was high.

here's a good question... did the airbags inflate? if they didnt, then the damage should mostly be cosmetic..

At 55 mph yer car is totalled d00d the front end has crumple zones that'll crush in a 20mph head-on. yer fender has been pushed back so it looks like the front frame has been compressed several inches. The headlights don't line up either, the passanger side is back further. Frame bent = totalled :\

im ok, lower back pain (gonna get her for that one $$$) i have brought all my cars to the same body shop, they do great work, hope its not totaled, gonna find that out later this week. i was kinda dizzy after the accident, and sat down for awhile, and by the time i was going to look at her car the cop wanted to talk to me. while talking with him, her car was already on a lift and outta there. She was stopped, I hit her, pushed her a good 5-10feet, and i left about 15ft of skid marks, i hit the drivers door and part of the back door, so i probably really messed hers up, its probably angled to the drivers side. I will update this as i get more, might post the police report once i get it. It occured in MICH, that matters because they have a 'no fault' insurance. Even thou im from OH, THey pay there deductible to get theirs fixed, and i have to pay mine to get mine fixed. Most at this point that she will pay is her ticket(s) and her deductible. I'm going to the lawyer about that thou.

It sure sucks... but I am amazed over and over again how well these things handle collisions. I feel relatively safe in there seeing thats all that happened from a 55mph crash.
