mmmmmm a challenge.. lmao
well since i got beat by a SVT cobra this morning .... we were doing 70 on the highway both stomped it .. and he beat by like 1 1/2 car lengths after we finally stopped at 110... my confidence is a little down...
NEED MORE BOOOOOST .. LOL

then you shouldn't be telling me to sell my car
. diff story if it were me running that svt from a 70 roll
or at least give me some constructive criticism..not just straight "sell your car" common.

Now you're just talking out of your *** buddy. FYI the worlds most powerful stock bottom end supra (980rwhp) is a 3 speed auto. Anyways besides the argument that (stick is funner to drive) what other reasons are there that make automatics so much inferior?
Stick: More control over your powerband in overall driving, however if you're talking about dragging, then an auto with precisely tuned gearing will out perform a stick. Yea, it's obvious stick shift has the upper hand when it comes to road racing...and I tip my hat to people who drive stick-shift for the purposes of road racing, if that's your case..then props to you. However, when it comes to road racing, the most important factor is the driver, obviously. So whether you are in an auto or stick, if you know your car you can keep up with the competition.
Automatic: Out performs stick-shift cars at the strip (as far as turbo-powered cars are concerned). No matter how quick or smoothly you can shift, you'll never be as quick or as exact as an auto tranny, which also maintains boost at shift points.
So no, automatics are not really that inferior. It really just comes down to a matter of which you prefer. I doubt you compete at the professional level, so for you to be bitching about autos is stupid.

AND THE HATER OF THE MONTH AWARD GOES TO........................
OsO, ATLEAST HE HAS A REAL RACE CAR!
honestly im not tryin to be a ****... but HOW can u say ur a good driver if all you have to do is push the GAS? wheres the skill in that? i dont see any talent in stomping the throttle...
driving, racing, whatever.... if you have a stick ... its all about the driver. ANYONE can stomp at automatic and get the same results...
now with a stick... the same car.. two different people can get 2 totally different track times, 1/4 mile times etc....
Theres NO BRAIN involved in driving an auto.....
I see no point in owning a sports car if all u have to do is push the gas.
what is that? thats a waste of money IMO.

Try driving a rear wheel automatic car that's putting down 420+rwhp. On the strip, sure it's pretty simple once you learn to powerbrake correctly. On any other course, whether you are in an auto or stick it does take skill to handle your car and take turns at optimal speeds. Believe me, the feel of driving an automatic front wheel drive car that's putting down maybe 200-240whp is a lot different. Your mind is narrowed down to such a small aspect of the racing scene bud. Sorry to say, but you kind of sound like a 2fast2furious enthusiast.

sports cars shouldnt even be made in an auto. That's why so many ignorant people think racing is just mindless 'putting the pedal to the metal' or just flooring it.
I agree with Oso. I see so many nice muscle cars, but then I find out they're automatics.
Don't get me wrong though. I drive an automatic, only becaus eit's my first car, and I commute it to school everyday. I spend more time at stoplights than cruising the highway during my daily commutes.

ummm I hate to break this to you boys and girls... if you build an automatic for racing... its gonna be faster than you shifting the gears. Those 9 and 10 second street legal Chevies... mostly autos.
Besides... what the **** is the skill in drag racing anyways? All you gotta do is put your foot down. Seems to me like shifting the gears yourself and lifting off the gas is a waste of energy.
So if all you're doing is drag racing, and it doesn't matter that you need to keep the revs up for corners, engine brake, or any of the **** you'd ACTUALLY need control over the gears for, then build the auto... it WILL be faster.
Think about it this way.... if your foot is down... the turbos are still spooling and the throttle is still open. No Blowoff, no wasted boost...

There's no fun in drag racing. I'd much rather drive for 100 miles in circles or on a track. I sure wish my car was newer

I'm with boilermaker. If you're gonna say there's no skill in racing auto, then don't forget there's no skill in drag racing. "Oooh... I can go in a straight line!" You call that skill? Sure, you have to shift, but any idiot can do that.
Back to the car - I prefer manual, but that doesn't change the fact that your car is AWESOME.

Oso...Sovereign, you both talk as if you are professional road coarse drivers lol. I'm betting neither of you have ever even been on a road coarse (where stick over auto actually matters). Don't be blabbing to me about how auto cars are a disgrace to racing...BECAUSE YOU DON'T RACE. Sure you may go head to head and drag with other cars...but launching and shifting with a stick-shift in a straight line is just as simple (unless you are trying to powerclutch or doubleclutch like thoe FF kids lmao). Bottom line, im going out on a limb and assuming that the only type of races you two take part in are drags, in which case it is a battle of machine vs machine rather than driver vs driver.
