Don't be blabbing to me about how auto cars are a disgrace to racing...BECAUSE YOU DON'T RACE. Sure you may go head to head and drag with other cars...but launching and shifting with a stick-shift in a straight line is just as simple (unless you are trying to powerclutch or doubleclutch like thoe FF kids lmao). Bottom line, im going out on a limb and assuming that the only type of races you two take part in are drags, in which case it is a battle of machine vs machine rather than driver vs driver.

wtf are you getting all offended for? I'm not trying to diss you car. I'd take any Supra auto or manual given the chance by mommy or daddy. And no, I don't race in any way or form. And I sure as hell won't bring my auto (let alone a CIVIC) to the track. There's nothing constructive about it, except if you are making that your career.

WTF does F&F have to do with anything? It's an overbudget movie that entertained many people. You don't hear our troops overseas getting stereotyped like in those DeltaForce or Die Hard movies. geez, just because we dirve honda's doesn't mean we're all like that

Project2k2 - It's still fun driving around with 420rwhp at my disposal, auto or not...but yes, the 6speed supra IS funner to drive as long as it's not bumper-to-bumper traffic

Sovereign - I have a lot of friends that modd their hondas and race them..and I have the utmost respect for them auto or not...why? because they respect me as well and don't say stupid remarks like "sell your car cuz it's auto". And saying that autos are a disgrace to the racing scene IS offending me...why again? because I drive an auto and I consider myself a part of the racing scene. So don't sit there degrading myself or my car, then claim to be innocent or whatever.

whatever man. You have a hot car. That's what I wanted to say in the first place. I just want to let you know that I wasn't attacking your car or you, so go ahead and flame me.

dude, im not here to flame anybody. this thread just got stupid and it's partly my fault for not just letting it go. i really do have a lot of respect for all your cars here at 7th. that's why i post here in the first place. im sorry if i seemed like an ***, but i put a lot of time into my car so yea i get defensive about it. constructive criticism i don't mind...friends on the supra forums have suggested time and time again that i swap out the tranny for a manual later on, and i take those comments with a grain of salt; because they are trying to help me improve my car even if it is to their tastes. Just understand that it's not polite to tell anyone to just "go sell your car". With that said, yes i do prefer 6speed supras over automatic, but you work with your budget...that's all anyone can expect from you.

Stick: More control over your powerband in overall driving, however if you're talking about dragging, then an auto with precisely tuned gearing will out perform a stick. Yea, it's obvious stick shift has the upper hand when it comes to road racing...and I tip my hat to people who drive stick-shift for the purposes of road racing, if that's your case..then props to you. However, when it comes to road racing, the most important factor is the driver, obviously. So whether you are in an auto or stick, if you know your car you can keep up with the competition.

Automatic: Out performs stick-shift cars at the strip (as far as turbo-powered cars are concerned). No matter how quick or smoothly you can shift, you'll never be as quick or as exact as an auto tranny, which also maintains boost at shift points.

So no, automatics are not really that inferior. It really just comes down to a matter of which you prefer. I doubt you compete at the professional level, so for you to be bitching about autos is stupid.
My first car was a fully built 1974 Camaro Z28 with a 3-speed racing automatic and that car pulled 10's all day long.
I would agree with auto's being a bad choice in the cars MOST of us drive on this site but if you got the power the supra is pushin I think you'll survive...lol.

Try driving a rear wheel automatic car that's putting down 420+rwhp. On the strip, sure it's pretty simple once you learn to powerbrake correctly. On any other course, whether you are in an auto or stick it does take skill to handle your car and take turns at optimal speeds. Believe me, the feel of driving an automatic front wheel drive car that's putting down maybe 200-240whp is a lot different. Your mind is narrowed down to such a small aspect of the racing scene bud. Sorry to say, but you kind of sound like a 2fast2furious enthusiast.
D00d...get a line lock system for your supra. That's the best peice of kit for the quarter in a rwd auto. I bet Moroso makes one for it...

Even better, try driving a car of that power and setup in the rain...every time you shift gears the *** end flies out from behind you....lol.
