Unhappy Does my EL Paint Job look bad??? Can they do better?

Hi guys... I own a 2003 Acura EL.. Some a$$hole Scratch me with a key on my driver side door back on April... bring it into a GM Bodyshop to have it repainted... cost me around $245 CDN...

As you can see... for some reason, it look wrost now... it is actually look DARKER then the rest of the car... when SUN shine on it.. it look wrost! The picture actually look wrost for some reason.. if you look by eye, it really depend on the angle you looking at... what do you guys think?? I talked to the guy in the bodyshop... they say you can never get a 100% match to the factory paint... Anyone know a good bodyshop in Toronto?

Yea.. it look better on the shade... or not in direct sun light... I been searching around bodyshop after another... they all say that the paint they use in the factory is different then the paint they use out in the bodyshop...

One say that is NO WAY local bodyshop can produce what they can do in a factory.. because the equipment(s) use in the factory cost MILLION of dollars... and what they use is only 10 of thousand $$$$... never will produce the same result!

He tell me never paint your car until you have to... and SILVER is the hardest to match!! White, Black, Red is the easiler!!

So people, If you planing to paint a panel or two.... think about before you do it!

Don't worry man. A paint job that wasn't so clean is NOT as bad as driving around with the scratch. Every time the person who scratched your door see the scartch, he would feel proud that you were his victim.

At least you got it repaired. Most people will not even know you got scratched and they will think it's just the way the light is reflecting off your car or it's just dirt.

My sister's Rav4 was key also, but she doesn't want to pay to get the door repaired. So she goes around in her BLACK Rav4 with an unsightly white scratch on it. It such a shame. The person who did that at her work probably feels better about himself each time he/she sees her work.

That's what the place I took my grill to said as well. If they just use the factory paint code, it won't match exactly. Other body shops say they use machines that exactly match the color of YOUR paint, and it turns out the same. Of course, it usually costs more than double the $$ to do this.

my uncle is a honda bodyshop manager and told me before i bought my civic (when i had one) that the silver was damn near imposible to get perfect if you got in a accident. Thats why i got red. but looking at that pic, i think they can do better, that shade looks kinda off

This is very true! You should never touch factory paint, there's nothing like it! If you have a scratch and it's not that bad you should use touch up paint. But If you have to repaint any part of your car then it will never last as long as factory paint....
Sorry to hear about your car...that sucks!!

I had my cars quarter panel, bumper and trunk painted at Tripple Crown auto body. They do all Sisley Honda's body work. You cant really tell a difference where my car was painted and what is origional... But then again, I have nighthawk black pearl, so its probably easier to get right. But call them up if you like. They have a full dupont system in there.

Tripple Crown Auto Collision LTD.
170 MapleCrete Road
Concord Ontario L4K 2B6
(905) 738-0019

Ralph Massara
Manager

They are located very near the intersection of Highway 7 and Jane Street. Maplecrete is one block east of Jane. If heading east you turn right off of Highway 7 onto Maplecrete.

Thanks AdamYYZ and others for all the help... I guess I just going to leave it...
I went out today.. and look around the car... it isn't as bad as the photo for some reason... Must be the sun... Or my new Digital Camera... anyway.... the paint only 3 months old... hope it will fade a bit later on... But I just don't want to made it wrost then what already are...

I actually see some Silver Honda had wrost paint job then mine... I saw one that the front end is totally different silver then the rest of the car.... Next time, I won't buy a silver anymore!

Is "wrost" a word?

Yeah, that paint looks like *** man. They did a terrible job on the color matching.

I had a silver '98 Civic that was cursed. It got hit every 2 months until it finally got totalled 6 months after I bought it. Anyway, I kept taking it to a body shop at a Chevy dealership that did awesome work. They matched the paint very well every time.
