Has anyone ever tried to paint their rims??? I was thinking I have a set of rims that have a ton of road rash and thought maybe I could sand them down and refinish them with a paint of some kind. I have heard that rims are usually coated with a powder type of paint to give it their original finish. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion??????

my friend painted his factory rims black, they must have been silver(ish) to begin with, and they dont look so bad, but his car is always dirty so its kinda hard to tell. I told him that its not usually a good idea, but he said he put some kind of protectant on it and has had no problems
this kid i know did his and made a walk thru...his rims look good...but i dont know if id do this to new rims..

one of my close friend gave his Integra GS rims to another good friend Who owns a old skoo Integra... we sanded teh clearcoat off (pretty thick layer) and painted it graphite (rim paint) and then clearcoated it.... the finish was nice.. and we had enuff layers of it, taht on the second day he slightly curbed the rim, but the paint was okay.. just the clearcoat was scuffed

Don't paint them. Its a big waste of time. One little pebble and you'll screw them up. I sprayed mine off with a hose and I took some off. Look in the phone book under powercoat, metal finishing, etc... you should find something. Motorcycle custom shops should be able to hook you up or tell you where they take their stuff. Thats how I found the place that did mine. Be prepared to pay $25 -$60 per wheel depending on color, size and the shop. You'll be better off finding a small family shop who does lots of custom orders rather than a line operation who does short jobs and customs when they can fit them in.

Wow powder coating seems like the way to go! 25- 60 per wheel really is not bad at all!! I would definately pay that to get the rims back in picture perfect condition.
