Got F*cked By A Truck, What's Going To Happen?

basically i was driving on the highway in ontario going to work, got up to a huge truck with a trailer pulling something. anyways as i was passing water was coming off the truck a bit and splashing on my window then something hit my windshield and made a small crack. i didn't see the crack at first but after about 5 seconds i saw it and immediately went up to the truck and told it to pull over. the **** didn't stop, just kept going like nothing was happening. there was a passenger in the truck too that just looked at me. i went in front of it and slowed it down but it just kept trying to weave around me. i was going to be late for work so i go plate number, trailer number, truck ID number, company initial and such and gave it to the OPP and i still haven't got a call from them. Anyone know what is going to happen in this case? I really don't want to pay for a new windsheild. The truck could of at least stopped and try to prove that nothing came off the truck and maybe i would have no case but the guy didn't even stop, like running from an accident.

one call to your insurance company and they should send someone out to your house to replace the windshield.

In illinois, if the truck doesn't have a cover on it and you claim that they had stuff fly out the back end and crack your windshield they HAVE to replace it for free.

Now there are circumstances, like if you have a system they can prove that by you playing your system loudly you could have caused that crack yourself. But in general most companies don't want to go to court for this crap so they just pay out. But that is here in IL

Every commercial hauler MUST have insurance. . . and it IS supposed to cover things like this. Call the company (if you got the number) or track it down, somehow and file a claim with them. At worst, they'll simply give you the number to their insurance company and have you to the footwork. Either way, they must pay for the damages.

Didnt even know that..intresting. Almost all the trucks that I see in this dumbass state have no covers on top. Rocks flying, 2x4's, all kinds of shiet. Pretty soon will have imigrants falling out on our windshields on highways here in Illinois.

Yeah it is pretty bad, I have gotten three free windshields from a place called J.R.Ruhl Landscaping because their huge dumptruck drives around Aurora at all times it seems like with a full load and no cover. They have had to pay out a lot of money in the pst few years

To bad you don't live in NC. We have Glassmasters. Replace your cracked or chiped windshield for free if you have any type of insurance (they pic up the deductable sp?). If you don't they promise the loswest prices in town!
The commercial comes on almost 5 times a day.

I'm a truck driver, so here you go................unless the rock or object came directly off the truck...............you're screw'd!!!! If a tire kicked up the rock, the new winshield will come out your pocket.

Sorry man, laws suck sometimes.
