Clamping springs

Okay so I got rims and stuff and I really want a drop .. at least an inch .. maybe an inch and a half ... but the problem is I can't afford it. What is your opinion on clamping the stock springs? Or do any of you know where i can get some cheap as hell coil overs?

I asked this question along time ago and the general census was dont do it since its not safe. When you clamp them, you risk the chance of the spring coming out of the perch since its not as long as it should be. Plus its kinda ghetto heh. I would just save up and buy some Goldlines.

The cheapest Ive seen them is probably the stuff on Ebay.. 50 bucks or so for some coil-overs. Remember you get what you pay for.
