How to make steering tighter.

I have progress springs on my car and that is it with suspension. I drove my friends s2k, and anothers evo 8, and the steering is tight, unlike in my car. I am kindoff getting sick of the wheel being so loose and all over the place. How can I tighten the steering so the car feels more solid?

shocks, get strut and tie bars, sway bars. that kind of stuff. do a search and you'll find what you need.

Remove power steering! You get more power as well.

YEah you can remove the power steering. I think that progress springs are kind of soft. If you upgrade to stiffer spring that might help. Get thicker sway bars and some strut bars. that will help. Ultimately though, the civic was meant to be a commuter car. The steering will always be pretty mushy.

Don't remove the power steering.
Just buy a JDM ITR or CTR steering wheel.
The wheel is 1.5 inches smaller so the wheel turns easier with a one handed motion.
The steering wheel is thicker and doesn't vibrate as much at 60+ mph.
The OEM wheel is 7lbs and the JDM ITR wheel is 5lbs and is much more responsive due to it's light weight.
If you don't mind not having cruise control get the JDM ITR... if not, then go with a EP3 wheel. I never use the cruise control anyway.

Tight as in how? Hard to move or quicker responce?

If you want it harder to move, disconect the power steering

if you want a quicker responce, get new shocks. like Konis or go with Tein/B&G set up.
(the car will transfer weight quicker)

Really, the aem pully's help. To all you who have answered thank you. I am looking for the wheel to seem as if it has a little harder of a time moving. It just seems to move around too easily, and just is all over the place. I like the way it feels in the SI or the s2k.

You can start by getting a set of sticky tires. The stickier the tires, the heavier your steering effort becomes. Not to mention a good set of sport tires will provide much better feedback and response through the steering wheel. With the stock Firestone tires, you feel like you're driving on ice all the time cause the steering wheel is so loose. Put on some sport tires and suddenly the steering is much heavier.

Don't go disconnecting your power steering. Unless you have a manual steering rack, driving without the power-assist is no fun and could be dangerous (what if a kid darts out in front of your car in a residential area and you can't swerve fast enough because your steering is too damn heavy at low speed?)

My old 88 civic didn't have power steering, and i can tell you that you'll need a lot (and i mean alot ) of power to move that steer wheel to go your way when you're parked. Which means parking is HELL. The pros is that, it does give you a direct respone from the ground. You'll have more control and more direct feeling to yourself. For me, i can drive faster than with power steering. I take turns very precisely, so i would like normal steering over power steering.

How do you disconnect the power steer?
Other than "hitting a kid on the steet" haha what other cons are there?
(weight on the steer under normal driving condition are fine with out power steering. Again, parking is a B*tCH !!!!!)

How do pullies help? I didn't even think they had anything to do with steering at all.
