What do you think about KONI+GC Coilovers???
I think they are way to much work!!!!
First of all you need to completely cut your OEM front struts, just to get your front Konis installed. Secondly the rears are made like ***, considering the fact that the stap ring that hold the perch up completely snapped off allowing my GC's to completely collapse to the bottom of the strut
(meaning the perch isn't supported anymore because the metal ring holding it up broke off) I will post some pic's when I get sometime this week. Thirdly these ****ing struts rust like a ****..the paint comes off them like no tomorrow, I really need to repaint them cuz I am scared that the rust will some how eat thru them.
So do you guy think that KONI and GC are a good set up???
Cuz I am kinda geting iffy about them and I am on the verge of buying TEIN's but those are pretty pricey. So to any of you that have them what are your overall feelings GOOD and BAD about this set up???

thats why i never recommend it. i always say its better to spend the extra few bucks on true coilovers. cause think about it. koni 550, gc 300. is 850. if your lucky you can get teins for 1000. dont have to worry about cutting your struts or the rings breaking off...
i personally think koni did a cheap job.. inserts, fine i understand but the cheap metal rings? they could have done better... what the hell takes them so long anyways.. tein and b&g could make the steering arm, why cant koni or tokico..

I have had no problems with mine ...ya they are alot of work, but you only have to do it once. The only thing that bugs me about teins are, that you can only drop 2".
Did you get the gc koni adapter collars for the rears? They are made alot better and have way tighter tolerences than the crappy Koni spring perches. I have had no bad experiences with my set up...yet.
But as for complaints the paint on the shocks is very brittle and can chip easy. And the rear design sucks but the GC collars fixed that for me. other than that

OK....kool....well see that is my main constraint...that the KONI's are to much work....I have the fronts sitting in my back seat now...and I'm waiting for my new snap ring and perch for my damaged strut....I really hope that it can be fixed....As for the collar, I didn't have them in....but now I got them..for my GC's so I will put them in asap....
btw...what do you think about the install on the fronts....did you run into ne huge problems or come across any incidents that were tricky....ne extra info on your install that made you have problems will help me out a lot.... Also how long did it take you....the backs took me about 30 min to put in....
Do you have ne pix of your install??

ya the backs are a snap. I used a big pipe cutter to cut the fronts. it worked out ok a hack saw would have done just as good. Just double check your measurement for the cut before you start wacking. cutting the front perch is a pain air tools help ALOT. I think the hardest thing was making the first hole "centered" in the bottom of the strut. My first hole was a little out of wack. I had to make up for it when I was widening it for the actual bolt hole. Don't be afraid of the it spraying you when you do the first hole is will just hiss a bit as it realeases gasses. Do them on at a time so you don't forget the order on how things go back together. the first front took a little over an hour going slow. The second was alot faster once you know what to do. have some semi gloss black paint on hand for touch up on the strut body after you cut. throw away the star washer that they supply you and use a lock washer instead. The first star washer i used broke before it was torqued down to specs. Simple green works good for degreasing and cleaning up your gc's making the look new again. If you still have the 2 extra little o rings that came with your gc's use them. if not be extra carefull when taking the sleeve off so you can save and reuse the ones in there. the o rings keep the sleeve from rocking and rattling back and forth on the strut body. Good luck.
How much does the GC Collars run? I'm supposed to be gettin some GC's from a friend for $150 <--pretty good deal I think! And as for the Konis...Still have to get those, but ya'll are kinda scaring me to even get the GC's. I know new GC's run $300 and the Konis, no less than $500, but I'm gettin my GC's for a good deal...so what do you think...should I still get the GC's???

Umm I am somewhat confused in relation to the star and lock washers, are they for the bottom of the front strut and are they used to lock the bottom bolt in place? Well I am not scared to much of the install.
I am just worried about ride quality. How have your GC's and Koni's been compaired to your stock ride quality. Are they really responsive when you adjust the fronts and the back to the softest/hardest setting? And what problems have you incountered after the install.
btw. thanx for all the info about your install

smokin deal on the GC's BlueBoyCivic Seems like you can't lose with a price like that.
You are right on with the star lock washer deal.
They are ALOT better than stock and a very big improvement over GC and stock struts.
You can crank the adjust ment to hard as a rock or close to stock. I keep mine right in the middle and love it. You can feel the road but you aren't bouncing around. I have had ZERO problems after install. Since you already have the KONis You really have nothing to lose with trying this set up out. You can always sell it after the fact and get tein's.
I have no urge to switch up at this time.

Does anyone here know if the 7th Gen Civic will EVER have the Tokico or any other brand of "sport" strut available? I think it's retarded that after almost 3 years the only turd to drop out of anyone's *** has been the Koni Yellow "rig it yo self". Is there ANYTHING coming out soon? Did I miss KYB or someone who's make something better than stock? Thanks. My junk bobs so much people think I have hydros going

Ummmm I don't know what rock you have been under...but there are a lot of Strut/Coilover suspension kits out there....Why not go to Parts Section on the right hand side...and do a search for suspension ?!?!

you dont HAVE to have it. it gives a cleaner install tho. and it seems like it re-enforces the weak koni perch(some people have complained about it bending/breaking off).
