When Cornering I Jiggle...
I tried to make up a funny title. LOL Anyway, when cornering hard my steering jiggles and the front tires seem to wobble around. I'm not sure if this is some new problem, or if this is just something I'm encountering now since I've been pushing my car more and more? In my mind it seems like the little shocks on the tie rods are messed up. We do have little shocks for taking care of bump steer, right?
Bleh. So many unknowns! I don't know what this is and I don't know how to fix it? Maybe it's something everyone has? If so, then would a X-brace solve this problem? Certain people say it's better when going over bumper (jwsisme for example). I think I notice this problem of mine when cornering over little bumps, but I'm not sure?
Here's my suspension setup:
1. Front and Rear Progress Sway Bars (27mm front, 22mm rear) /w polyurethane bushings.
2. Front and Rear Spoon Sports strut tower bars.
3. 17x7.5 45 offset Rota Attacks /w 215/45 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's

Umm... what kind of tire rollover are you getting? you could be over driving the tires, when you do that they can actually "skipp" durring hard cornering. It Kinda sounds/feels like those rumble strips on the sides of highways. If you are just back off a little, or get higher performance tires, like some compitition radials(Kumho Victoracers)

Just to clarify, Bump steer it Basically toe change due to suspension compression. It will feel like the car Is pulling in a different direction then where the steering wheel is pointed. Ushually its only encountered on Dips and the bottom of fast drops (when your suspension compresses). though it can happen when the suspension Uncompresses past normal suspension travle.

So does it matter how low you are to the ground as how dramatic the bump steer is?
Just wondering.

Yup, the lower you go the more prevailent Bump steer will be. Honda claims that the reason Our suspension has an abnormal Strut, is to reduce BUmp steer. but who knows.

I thought that my steering was going to fall apart. Of course I may ned an alignment myself since I have not gotten one since I got the suspension replaced.

Zzyzx: I'm not sure what kind of tire rollover I'm getting? I don't know what that term means? I'm running 33psi up front and 31psi in back. I have a digital tire pressure gauge with a %1 accuracy.
I did check my front struts out a while back and they're more worn than the rear. I push down on a corner and it bounces once before it recovers. The rear simply goes up when I let go and it gets damped quickly. Might that have something to do with it?

I think it would have something to do with it, yes.
The xbrace didn't seem to help the steering feel, as much as it helped the front wheels from flopping around. Before the xbrace, the wheels didn't really care if they were on the ground, with the xbrace the wheels really tried to stay on course and on the ground, similiar to a LSD.
So.. I think you would really appreciate the xbrace, but I dunno if it will completely fix your issue, cause it might be something else...like new struts.

Tire roll over is the mesure of how much the tire is bending durring cornering. You mesure it by putting Tick marks on your tires with some window chalk and driving. Where the Chalk gets rubbed off will tell you how much your tire is rolling over.
you can just bairly make them out on my car.
Just mark from whithin the tread to about 1/2 inch down the side wall, in about 3 - 4 places.
I do it when I autocross so I can adjust tire pressure. you want the tire to roll just a bit. Ushually there is a little arrow/triangle on the side wall near the tread, you dont want the tire to wear past that. on the street I run 32 up front and 30 on the back, when I autocross, 44 up front 32 on the back. (205/40ZR17)
If the Strut allows the spring to bounce more then once after a bump then its blown, or is to weak for the spring. (Push down on the car, It should bounce up then settle.)
Oh ya, after a little thinking I Figured out that by placeing the Steering rack High(and screwing Strut MFG world wide) Honda Did not really get rid of Bump steer they just changed what it did. When a car with the steering rack mounted low experience Bump steer, the action will cause Toe out to occur. this causes the car to pretty much do what it wants. With the Steering rack mounted High, Bump steer causes Toe in, makeing the car want to go strait. to counter this, if you happen to experience this often just align the car with a little more Static Toe out.

Tires
Might also be your tire gripping a bit better with a wider tire. Are you running on stock tires?

well i would have to switch the springs back to stock and bring it in...
i used the neuspeed sport springs... and they wont touch it cause it lowerd... i mean its drivable, so i dont see the point in going thru all that work just to get free shocks... cause i would have to switch them to stock, then switch them back once i get the new stuff... might as well wait for koni's
