2nd Guessin' and Stressin'

Okay, after browsing through the threads, this seems like a rare problem. Just got Neuspeed Sports on my '01 w/ 29K on it. Had 'em about 2 weeks and know they've settled. BUT when I turn my wheel back n forth i can hear a clink or clunk like my steering column is rubbing against something. just making a series of bumps, I guess. Hard to explain the noise, but it just sounds like there's a piece of tree bark wedged in my steering column and it's rubbing as I turn to either side. ANY IDEAS???

Took it to the shop and my guy said everything's tight and a-ok. shouldn't be a long-term problem. but it just SOUNDs bad. I cringe.

You're camber might be causing the sidewalls to hit the inside fenderwell. Or might be your toe is too far in like this / \ Go get an alignment might help solve your problems

Thanks. It sounds like it's not as rare as I thought. But it still concerns me cuz' I don't have the $ to buy aftermarket shocks and struts right now. If that's even the problem. I just don't want to have to jump through a bunch of hoops to find out what the deal is. My dealership probably won't even touch it cuz' it's lowered. So if something needs to be replaced, how will it get done? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....

Hypr Drv: its probably not your struts. I am in Columbus too, I think we got our installs at the same shop. Anyway, it is consistent among those with Neuspeed Sport springs... the clicking and popping sounds that you hear are the dead coils hitting/rubbing. I have read numerous threads on here and you can pretty much ask anyone with our springs and they will tell you the same thing. The strut problem that you are reading about it in the 2002 civics... not ours.

On a different note. Are you going to the Columbus Hondas BBQ this weekend... us Columbus Civic guys would like to meet you.

So Deejai...good to hear from someone 'round C-town. What can be done about the rubbing of these Neuspeeds, assuming that's the problem (and God, I hope it is!). The noise is nasty and it's killin' me every time I turn the wheel at slow speeds. Any thoughts would be nice. And yeah, it'd be nice to meet some other local Civic riders since I've pretty much gone solo on the Import scene so far. None of my friends are really into it for various reasons. Money would be numero uno and a lack of decent cars is running a close second. I'm going up to Cleveland this weekend to spend easter with my family, but keep me posted on any other happenings. (where's the BBQ anyway?)

There are a few Neuspeed threads here in the suspension forum that offer solutions to the noises. Some suggestions are to use spring isolators or coil seperators. I haven't seen them in stores, but someone mentioned auto stores and radio shack.

We can meet up and hang out... there are a couple of guys here that usually get together, so we will definately include you in the future.

The BBQ and other events can be found in the Midwest Forum. Thats where we post all topics Columbus specific.

It seems that Neuspeed is not the only one with that type of problem I have Skunk2 coilovers and stock shocks and I get the same noises everytime I make a slow turn and it sounds like my cars gonna fall apart but Im in the process of getting Konis so I hope that takes care of the problem.
