Spring Compressor needed for lowering springs?
Spring Compressor needed for lowering springs?
i have lowering springs on my car right now, but i got new ones. i had someone professionally install the first ones, but i am going to do these myself. i know i dont need one to get the lowering springs off, but do you tihnk i will need one to get a set of neuspeed sport springs on the strut? let me know what you think. i want to try and do it without, so i dont have to hastle with the rental shop and what not. thanks.
On my sportlines, it was true that without the weight of the car, the rear coils were not compressed. Fronts were a different story. They were compressed over an inch.
Save yourself heartache and pain. Sears has a set of compressors for only 40 dollars.

you really don't need compressors for the rear springs. but when me & my friend did the fronts, he suggested that he would just push down on the spring housing while i unscrewed the bolt on top. & it worked fine much quicker than pulling out the damn compressors. of course my friend is like 6'5" & 230lbs so he could handle it easily. he even said it didn't take that much strength. so thats one way of doing it w/o compressors. but if i were doing it alone i would use them.

I did mine with my brothers help and we didn't use any srping compressor. We just slipped it right out and slipped on the new ones and bolted them back up. We removed the whole shock, only took us 3 hours.

ya alot of people didnt use them. they say our springs are so soft you can just have someone put pressure on them to take them on/off...
since it is your first time i would recommend you have one at hand tho. you can rent it for FREE at autozone and pepboys
