Bushings for Stock sway bars
What size/material bushings would be good for the stock front and rear sways? (actually, for the RSX rear sway, but stock too, maybe people wanna know?)
I don't have money to buy new sways, but I've been otld replacing hte bushings will do wonders by itself. Do you just go by the mm diameter of the sway, or is there something else to it? Also, do you just walk into pep boys to get these, or is there an advantage to buying a brand name, such as neuspeed (who makes bushings, ney?)
I don't know jack about bushing to be honest, I just want to improve my Auto-X times, so if this is a bonehead question, tell me that too, but educate me, gawdurnit!

Bushings won't do anything to your car instead of just keeping the bar on the car. They are made of polyurethane. Rubber won't improve the handling on your car unless it's tires.
If you want to improve handling:
Buy Z rated tires that're fairly wide.
Get lowering springs with a fairly stiff spring rate.
Get a thicker rear anti sway bar.
Your cheapest option is a rear anti sway bar. A 19mm RSX rear anti sway bars run super cheap and they are very effective in improving handling. You'll get even better results if you lower your car first... which is a lil' more expensive but not as expensive as tires. I would start with tires first as stickier tires even on stock suspension will improve handling, lower the car, then get the rear anti sway bar.

I dissagree, Rubber bushings are used in stock vehicles to isolate road noise and ride harshness from passengers. Race cars used solid metal or other rigid meterials to reduce compliance and improve responsivness with no consideration to comfort. Urethane bushings are the best comprimise between the two. I have the Neuspeed front bushings and they have made a big difference in the handleing of the car. (I autocross).

Meh, my car is lowered, I'm running on yokohama pradas, I have a front strut bar, and an RSX rear sway on order. Just wondering whats up with the bushings, beacause, like zz said, from what I understand, the bushings can be upgraded from rubber at the cost of noise to improve handling. Are the neuspeed bushings for the stock front sway? Thanks

The Neuspeed bushings fit the stock front bar (I have an EX and I dont know if the bar is smaller/same as the rest of the civic modles.)
If you buy an upgraded Anti-swaybar it will come with bushings to fit it, except for the RSX bars where you will have to purchace RSX bushings.
I do agree with Sonic, a good sticky set of tires will do more for your handleing then any other part. check the UTQG rateing to compair a tires compound (there is some Vairances between brands but its a good place to start.)
Parada Speck-2's have a UTQG rateing of 300 AA A the 300 is the tires wear rateing(the lower the rateing the softer the compound) the AA is Straight-a-head wet braking traction rateing (AA,A,B,C are the catigories with AA being the best.) and finally the last A is the Temperature resistance rateing. It represents the tire's resistance to the heat generated by running at high speed. Grade C is the minimum level of performance for all passenger car tires as set under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
the tires I plan to run in autocross are Kumho Ecsta MX rated 220 AA A so in theroy, the Kumho's should stick better but won't last as long.
