Subframe Stabalizer Rod

After reading this a couple of weeks ago I decided to go ahead and order the part for myself. I have a 2002 DX. The bottom holes for the ROD are already drilled and tapped into the subframe. Hooray to that. After installing it I backed out of my driveway and I could already sense that the steering was a little stiffer, which is always good. Also like grey mentioned in his review a lot less wheel hop. It's not completely eliminated, but with Konis on a moderately stiff setting and going around turns with bumps the wheels stay on the ground a lot better. The 2 best things though : 1) Less body roll up front. 2 ) Decreased suspension noise. One of the worst things about installing Konis are the the amount of noise they make through some bumps. After installing the subframe stabilizer rod that noise has been almost completely eliminated. There's a lot less flexing/moving around between the strut towers which decreases the noise tremendously. Altogether I definitely recommend this product if you don't already have it. I paid $50 for it which is expensive. You can get it for around $25 I think from the place linked in that that thread linked above. Very easy to install it also. I had 15 minutes left on my lunch break today, jacked up the car in the middle-front and popped it in making it to work only a few minutes late.

hahah. good one...

Anyway. It's freaking back ordered like hell, just ask the honda dealership to put it on critical back order, they'll get it to you faster, otherwise you'll wait months for it. I guess they're hard to come by.

Look at the thread linked above and you'll find some pictures to go by. Basically it goes right under the copper colored pipes from the steering rack. One of the bolts actually shares a bolt with the steering rack on the subframe. So you should only be looking for one hole on each side for the additional bolt.

I have a question on this subject. I have an 02 EX and I have the straight bar on my car. Would it be any better if I bought this one that has the bend in it? I don't really know how it would be better. Mine looks like par #10 in the diagram. Would it be worth it to spend 30 dollars on the bar that looks like part #11?? torsion bar

I don't think it's officially called a "torsion bar". Anyhow the one with the bend is for the manual transmission. If you have an EX and you have a bar, don't concern yourself with. : ) You're all set.

Interesting. It's also really nice to find more differences that aren't easily seen between the 2k1 and 2k2. When we get more 2k3s... I wonder what'll be the difference.

Yeah, 2002 LX's and EX's have it. The 2001's don't have it (although some of them have the holes for it). The 2002 DX's don't have it either. Not sure about the HX's, although I think they do have it. Anyway, it's worth getting if you don't have it. Especially considering the price.

To add to this : The 2002 DX does have the holes.
